The Basketball Africa League (BAL) ( today announced the league's roster of marketing and merchandising partners for the 2025 BAL Playoffs that are underway now at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria, South Africa, and will culminate with the 2025 BAL Finals on Saturday, June 14 at 4:00 p.m. CAT. The new partners – Energade, Hyundai and Uber – are engaging fans in South Africa throughout the Playoffs and Finals and join the BAL's existing partner roster that features Foundational Partners Rwanda Development Board, NIKE, Jordan Brand and Wilson, as well as marketing partners Afreximbank, Castle Lite, Hennessy, RwandAir and ServiceNow. The 2025 BAL Playoffs, which are being held in South Africa for the first time, have featured the top eight teams ( from the three conference group phases that were held in Rabat, Morocco; Dakar, Senegal; and Kigali, Rwanda in April and May. Tickets are on sale now at and Below are highlights of the partner activations throughout the BAL Playoffs and Finals: Energade As the Official Sports Drink Partner of the BAL Finals, Energade is hosting fan engagement activities in the BAL Fan Zone outside of the SunBet Arena where fans can stay active and hydrated. Hyundai As an Associate Partner of the BAL Playoffs and Finals, Hyundai is featured prominently with vehicle displays in the BAL Fan Zone and at the arena entrance. Fans engaging with the brand have the opportunity to win Hyundai and BAL merchandise and prizes. Uber Through the BAL's collaboration with Uber Eats, fans can conveniently order food from in-arena vendors right from their seats, with pickup available at a dedicated area on the concourse. Uber renamed the arena drop-off location in the Uber Rides App to 'SunBet Arena – Home of the BAL Finals.' The App also features BAL promotions offering fans discounted tickets to the Playoffs and Finals. Afreximbank As an Official Partner of the BAL, Afreximbank is supporting the off-court development of BAL players through BAL Advance, providing targeted training in areas such as nutrition, mental health, and financial literacy. Afreximbank is helping promote African creative talent by supporting emerging designers and showcasing their work through industry networking events organized by the league and at merchandise stands in the BAL Fan Zone. UPDATE: Fires spark closures on Constantiaberg mountains, urgent need for donations

More than 90 firefighters are currently battling an intense wildfire raging across the Constantiaberg mountains, as crews work tirelessly across four key fronts: Noordhoek, Steenberg Estate, Ou Kaapse Weg and Clovelly. The City of Cape Town has mobilised extensive resources to combat the blaze, deploying 12 major pumper fire engines, five strike teams, and five water tankers. Officials have warned that the fire poses a serious threat to safety and air quality in the surrounding areas. As a precautionary measure, the Noordhoek retirement village has been evacuated to protect its residents from the encroaching flames. The city has issued a call for public support, asking for donations to sustain the firefighters working under extreme conditions. The immediate needs for the crews include: Bottled water Nutritional drinks such as Energade and Powerade such as Energade and Powerade Energy bars Saline-based eye drops to alleviate discomfort caused by smoke and ash Officials emphasised the importance of keeping firefighters hydrated and energised as they face gruelling conditions on the fire lines. Residents are urged to stay away from affected areas and to monitor official updates for further safety instructions. Those wishing to assist are encouraged to deliver donations to designated collection points set up by the City. Public Safety Notice: Ou Kaapse Weg is closed in both directions. All hikers and mountain bikers must avoid Upper Tokai and Silvermine. Anyone still in Silvermine West (Gate 1) or Silvermine East (Gate 2) must evacuate now. Ground crews and helicopters are battling this fire with everything they've got. We stand ready to do the same – for every animal whose life depends on us. HOW YOU CAN HELP Donate to fuel our search and rescue efforts. Stay clear of closed areas for your own safety. If you live nearby, place shallow dishes of water outside, with rocks in them so that small animals can safely drink without the risk of drowning. If you find an injured animal, please call the SPCA urgently on 083 326 1604. If it is safe to do so, contain the animal in a ventilated cardboard box, away from pets and high-traffic areas.
