Swindon athlete makes club history by topping UK rankings
Finley Byrne has topped the UK U17 Rankings after breaking a club record.
The Swindon Harriers athlete clocked 9mins 1.61secs in the 3,000m at the Wiltshire Track & Field Championships, knocking 30 seconds off Callum Bampton's 2012 record and 50 seconds off his own personal best.
Byrne's coach, Kevin Buttle, explained: "The focus is on qualifying for the English Schools 1,500m so a couple of BMC races and some league races for the club coming up in the next few weeks.
"Then maybe another 3k later in the season."

Other athletes had a successful day at the County Ground.
Young sprinter Tamiah Roswell added her sixth under 13s club record to her accolades, completing the 100m in 13.11secs.
This broke Delleah Belgrave's record of 13.2secs, which was set nine years ago.
Roswell also improved her own 200m club record with a winning time of 27.38secs and won the long jump with a leap of 4.09m.
"Tamiah now holds six U13G club records and the challenge I have given her is to hold seven," Coach Tony Jackson commented.
Esha Bhalerao performed well in the field events, setting a club record of 2.80m to win the U15s pole vault, placing her top of the South West Rankings and eighth best in the UK.
Lucy Bull continued her impressive start to the season in the U15s discus, bettering her own club record with a winning throw of 32.04m.
