More Education news Mentored by Eric Rogers, instructor of computer science, and Sam Wakefield, instructor of art, SAU students in the Game Development program created Blight's Grasp, a game that serves as part of the game development senior project. The end product is the culmination of a year-long effort. Game creation is a difficult process, with many pieces that must come together to create a cohesive product. The game developer, Chrono Clash, is a team of multidisciplinary students who combined their skills to make Blight's Grasp a reality. Students 'do the math' at Southern Arkansas University annual competition Blight's Grasp is an action game available for free on Steam. It currently has 93% positive ratings. The game drops players onto an alien world where they must battle corrupted creatures while mastering elemental abilities, unravel the mysteries of the planet, and search for the protagonist's missing sister. Westfield Technical Academy high schoolers compete in Chef Showdown

WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Wednesday was the second day of the cooking competition, where sophomores and juniors at Westfield Technical Academy are showing off their cooking skills. These high school students are participating in the annual four-day Chef Showdown, and the culinary arts instructor told 22News that he is amazed by the students' skill sets. Sunshine Village art show at Chicopee senior center Today, the culinary students had to make a dish from a different part of the U.S., with choices ranging from soul food to Creole cuisine. The students had 30 minutes to prep and 40 minutes to cook. The winners from yesterday's contest were able to get a head start. WTA culinary arts instructor Eric Rogers said this competition is showing students how important it is to work together. 'You know, getting ideas from other students and bouncing ideas from each other, collaborating, researching, designing their own dish, and then putting it into practice in the kitchen,' Rogers said. A team of three won Wednesday's competition, and those students will compete against each other on Thursday. They'll get to choose two sous-chefs to work with to produce an entree with one side and a dessert. The special ingredient is beef tenderloin and crawfish. Coincidentally, April 17 is National Crawfish Day. Students ‘do the math' at Southern University Ark. annual competition

MAGNOLIA, Ark. (KTAL/KMSS) – A math competition brings out the best of southwest Arkansas. Southern University Arkansas hosted its annual ACTM Math Contest, bringing together 89 students from five regional schools to compete in six subjects: algebra, Geometry, Statistics, Trigonometry, and Calculus. Students who took home first place will head to state. They also engaged with instructor Eric Rogers to learn more about the program. Additionally, the President's Ambassadors were on hand to share SAU items and to help recruit future Muleriders. More Arkansas News Students who placed first through third in their respective categories earned automatic invitations to the state-level ACTM competition, which will take place on April 26 at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. These top performers were also recognized with medals and cash prizes. This marks the fifth consecutive year that Caroline Neeley organized the event at SAU, with invaluable support from faculty members who assisted in exam administration and logistics.
