Erie women in PR unite to share experiences to celebrate Women's History Month
The Northwest Pennsylvania chapter of the Public Relations Society of America celebrated Women's History Month Thursday afternoon. A lunch and learn panel discussion took place featuring regional professionals. Rescued pup Bernard finds loving home after recovering from abuse These local leaders have mastered the skills of public relations, marketing communication and other related fields and shared their experience. The lunch was a chance for participants to network with others in their field. This is the society's second year holding an event like this and they hope to make it annual. City of Erie, ErieBank partner up to boost home ownership 'They share challenges they've faced obstacles they've overcome success as they've had and usually after an hour people leave feeling pretty good and that's our hope,' said Tony Peyronel, president of the NWPA PRSA. City of Erie, ErieBank partner up to boost home ownership
The City of Erie is partnering with a local bank to begin a new home opportunity program. Mayor Joe Schember and ErieBank are introducing the Open Your Door program. AHN St. Vincent honors two physicians for National Doctors' Day Their goal is to reduce financial barriers and leverage existing resources for those who may be facing challenges when it comes to home ownership. The program offers 100% LERTA tax abatement for 10 years on new development, refunding acquisition costs, and financing assistance for owner-occupied residential builds. French St. parking garage goes cashless 'We're that mom-and-pop bank that wants to develop relationships. we want to be there every step of the way from the time their kids open their accounts to their grandkids and move forward we want to be in their lives forever and so this program will help them build that generational wealth, build equity in their homes build a dream of maybe having a small business, sending someone to college all that happens the start of having a home,' said Kevin Dixon, vice president & community responsibility officer for ErieBank. Erie Bank on Parade Street opens doors Monday, offering financial literacy courses
Erie Bank is officially open at the corner of 10th and Parade with services in place that are designed to strengthen the community doubling as a financial literacy center. One of the services is financial education courses that will be offered by bank staff with the space also accessible to erie organizations to help their clients. Ariana Halal Kitchen, Erie's first Afghan restaurant, officially opens for business 'Parade Street was the main corridor for Erie, Pennsylvania years and years ago but now as the gateway to the minority community less than three percent of minorities own their own home within this city,' said Bishop Dwane Brock, president of the East Side Renaissance. Bishop Brock said one of the main focuses of the East Side Renaissance is to change that dynamic. 'The East Side Renaissance is motivated to change that dynamic to get people affordable homes that they can buy and partake of the American dream,' said Bishop Brock. One resident noted how the bank will play a role in the community for years to come. Shriners Children's Erie receives over $64K thanks to Spirit of Children program 'It's just a great opportunity for people to learn financial literacy and to change their lives and also create generational wealth for their children so that they will know how to save how to invest,' said Bishop Clifton McNair III with the Word of Life Christian Center. 'Financial literacy is going to be helping the community. Bishop Brock did a wonderful thing, him and his team, and I am so amazed and happy that they brought this bank here,' said Regina Akers, an Erie resident. 'So many people said that this thing could not and would not happen but yet it's a reality here today you have over 200 people celebrating from every sector of life in Erie, Pennsylvania it's an exciting day for the welfare of the city,' added Bishop Brock.
