Erie Zoo ready to open their gates for 100th year
The Erie Zoo will be re-opening their gates to the public this weekend to kick off a milestone year! For their centennial celebration, the Erie Zoo will be offering free admission this Saturday, March 1 for their first day of the season. The grounds will be open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. with special activities until 2 p.m along with free coffee and donuts. 'Glow' wild at the Erie Zoo's Chinese lantern festival this spring Construction is scheduled to be completed this spring on their renovated red panda habitat and their viewing area for the African painted dog. President & CEO Roo Kojancie said they have a lot of special plans for their 100th year. Erie County League of Women Voters holds annual forum event 'We have Glow Wild which is the first ever Chinese lantern festival to come to the Erie region. We are so thrilled to bring this to Erie,' she said. 'We are also doing something really fun this year called Centennial Saturdays so that is one Saturday a month the first 100 guests that come through our gates will get a special surprise.' Erie County League of Women Voters holds annual forum event
The Erie County League of Women Voters hosted its annual legislative forum at the Sight Center in Erie on Thursday. Four state legislators were in attendance including State Senators Scott Hutchinson and Dan Laughlin and representatives Pat Harkins and Bob Merski. Jersey Mike's Subs Month of Giving returning this March They were each asked questions on subjects including education, consumer protection, the environment and minimum wage. The league's treasurer said the forum provides an opportunity for local voters to get up close and personal with their legislators and ask them about issues they care about. PA senator advocating for open primaries for independents 'They're important because I think it's for the voter to be able to see and hear a representative is a lot better than just reading it. You get a personality, you get the grammar, you get everything. You get the whole person,' said Lucia Krupicz, treasurer for the Erie County League of Women Voters.
