Harrison County Chamber of Commerce gathers essential supplies for southern WV flood victims

CLARKSBURG, (WBOY) — Donations to support those affected by the recent flooding in southern West Virginia began to arrive at Harry Green Nissan on Thursday. Harrison County Chamber of Commerce officials expressed their excitement and gratitude for the overwhelming community support in aiding those in need. They have also been in contact with McDowell County 911 officials to assess current needs. 'On top of the flooding, they now have snow. So, they need little buddy heaters and the one-gallon Coleman kerosene heaters as well. That is an essential need right now besides water and buckets to help with the cleaning and clean up effort,' Harrison County Chamber of Commerce Marketing Director Marla Ferree said. On Friday, during regular business hours, donations of essential supplies—including bottled water, diapers and wipes, baby food, non-perishable food, blankets, cleaning supplies, and clothing—can be dropped off at the Harry Green Nissan showroom in Clarksburg. 'Saturday around 8 a.m., anybody that can help. If they can't give, come and help load the trucks. Load them up and get them down there for us. So, there is a lot of support from other businesses in the area and we just happen to be the drop point. Those people are going to be here, they're going to be involved, but all the help, the more the merrier. We invite everybody to come down and just be a part of it,' Harry Green's Seven Acres Co-Owner Erik Green said. 'We're just more than selling cars and servicing cars. This is the least we can do. We're just happy to be a part of it.'
