Cardiac arrest survivors reunite with first responders
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — AMR Rochester is celebrating National EMS week and reuniting EMS workers with cardiac arrest survivors.
It's AMR's fourth annual reunion event highlighting the efforts made by first responders to give folks a second chance at life after a cardiac event.
The names of those EMS workers and the people they saved will be placed on the 'Tomorrow Wall' at AMR Rochester on a plaque noting the date of the emergency.
AMR officials said what's more important, though is being able to recognize the signs of a cardiac arrest and knowing CPR.
Thursday's reunion lets providers get receive the honor they deserve and celebrate another life saved.
'Our survivors are our purpose, right, and we're here to save lives and it's great that we can see the impact that our actions have,' AMR Rochester Medical Director Dr. Erik Rueckmann said. 'I think it helps after this pandemic to really show people what we do and the impact of care and I think its good for our providers to get that recognition.'
AMR Rochester said they have around 200 EMTs and paramedics on its force.
