SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) — Celebrate the local LGBTQ+ community during the Sioux Falls Pride Parade and Festival. The parade gets underway at 10 a.m. at 8th Street and Dakota Avenue in downtown Sioux Falls. That's followed by the free festival from noon to 5 p.m. at Yankton Trail Park.
Celebrate Sioux Falls' cultural diversity at the Festival of Cultures. It's taking place at Levitt at the Falls downtown and includes concerts and cultural performances throughout the day starting at 10:30 a.m, plus a Kids' Zone, food trucks, vendors and a Global Village. Tonight's Levitt headliner is Espiral7.
Other Summer Festivals include Jesse James Day in Garretson, SD, Luce Pioneer Day at Lake Herman State Park and Tacos & Tequila at Sioux Falls Stadium.
American Legion Post 15 in Sioux Falls is hosting a Flag Day ceremony at 7 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park. The event includes a demonstration of proper flag folding, an honor guard flag retirement plus a gun salute.
Elected leaders and military officials will be part of a dedication of the Veterans Honor Park. The ceremony starts at 1 p.m. at 744 S Washington Avenue.
Super Saturday at the Outdoor Campus in Sioux Falls features free kayaking and canoeing. The sessions are 10 a.m. to noon and 1-3 p.m. No registration is required and all gear will be provided.
The Outdoor Campus and Sioux Falls Parks & Rec are hosting free fishing at Family Park from 9-11 a.m. All gear will be provided.
Customers can create their own Patriotic String Art Project at AMC Collective in Sioux Falls. Stop by between 11 am to 3:30 to make your patriotic piece using wood, nails, paint and string. The cost is $15.
Purchase fresh produce along with other home-grown and home-made items at the Falls Park Farmers Market. It's open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. through October.
Gift & Thrift in Sioux Falls is hosting an Outdoor Flea Market featuring antiques and collectibles. The hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
You can fly a kite of your own, or enjoy the giant show kites from flyers across the region during the Brookings Kite Festival. There will also be food trucks and kids games. The festival is taking place today and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fishback Soccer Complex. Admission is free.
The city of Sioux Falls outdoor pools and aquatic centers are located at Drake Springs, Frank Olson, Kuehn, Laurel Oak and Terrace parks. Open swimming will go from 1 to 5 in the afternoons and 6:30 to 8 in the evenings. Splash pads at Hayward and Pioneer parks are open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Wild Water West is also open for the season. The water park west of Sioux Falls features a tornado alley, water slides and a lazy river. The hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Movies playing at the historic State Theater in downtown Sioux Falls include Robin Hood, rated G, The Fugitive, rated PG-13 and Friendship, rated R.
The Wells Fargo CineDome & Sweetman Planetarium at the Washington Pavilion features T-Rex, Mars: The Ultimate Voyage, 3-2-1 Liftoff and Experience the Aurora.
New movie releases playing at a theater near you include How to Train Your Dragon, rated PG, plus Materialists, The Life of Chuck and The Unholy Trinity, all rated R.
Enjoy sprint car, street stock and hobby stock racing at I-90 Speedway in Hartford, SD. Gates open at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. The races start at 7 p.m. Admission is $17, $7 for children and free for ages 12 and under.
