FIREFIGHTERS from at least six stations are tackling a blaze at a 'retirement property' in Essex. The fire crews are tackling a large fire in the roof of the four storey Westcliff property. 2 2 Witnesses have said that the flames are visible through the roof of the property on Imperial Avenue. Video footage of the fire shows billowing smoke, as well as tall flames coming from the building. A spokesperson for Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters have been called to a fire in the roof of a four storey block of flats in Westcliff." The fire was reported at 12.12pm and is still being tackled, with an update at 1:25pm asking residents to close their doors and windows due to the smoke. A tweet about the incident reads: "Huge fire in Imperial Avenue. Multiple fire engines, ambulances and police dash to scene." Crews from Basildon, Canvey, Chelmsford, Corringham, Orsett and Southend fire stations are attending.

Firefighters tackling a blaze at an industrial site were working to stop the flames spreading to other units. Essex County Fire and Rescue Service was called to River Way in Harlow at about 9:00 BST following reports that a building's roof was alight. Four crews were sent to the scene and used a specialist aerial ladder platform to pour water on the blaze from above. A spokesperson for the service said: "Firefighters are protecting the adjoining units to stop the fire spreading." It said crews from Chelmsford, Epping, Harlow and Loughton were sent to the scene and the incident was still under way.. The service warned residents that "some smoke" could be seen in the area." Fire crews rescued a horse using specialist equipment after it fell a 27-year-old horse, fell in the yard of a stable in Buckwyns Chase, Billericay, on Saturday County Fire and Rescue Service said Smarty was lying on the concrete when crews arrived and was being looked after by a a winch, they managed to move him safely and help him back onto his feet.
