Guests evacuated as firefighters tackle hotel blaze in Essex
Guests at a hotel in Essex have been taken to alternative accommodation after the building had to be evacuated during a from Essex County Fire & Rescue Service were called to reports of a blaze at the building, in Epping Road, North Weald Bassett, at about 21:05 GMT on fire, which affected 25% of the hotel, was extinguished by 01:30 on Saturday by 11 fire crews and the service's Urban Search And Rescue and Technical Rescue manager Dan Partridge said: "We are grateful that the building was evacuated so efficiently, and no-one suffered any injuries." Woman rescued and two escape from roof fire
A woman has been rescued from a roof fire overnight. Essex County Fire & Rescue Service said the roof of the bungalow in Waltham Abbey was "100% alight" when they arrived when they were called at 22:34 GMT on Friday. Two people escaped from the property, on Galley Hill Road, before firefighters arrived from Harlow and Loughton, which colleagues from Cheshunt in Hertfordshire and Enfield in north London also sent. The fire service said all three occupants were left in the care of the ambulance service. An investigation is under way to find out what caused the incident. Great Hallingbury family homeless and cat dies after kitchen fire
A family have been made homeless and a cat has died as a result of a blaze which started in a were called at 19:50 GMT on Monday to Mead Field Drive in Great Hallingbury, Essex, close to Bishop's Stortford in manager Steve Perry said it was most probably caused by items "accidentally left on top of the hob".Essex County Fire and Rescue Service issued safety advice, reminding people to keep their hobs clear of clutter. Driver cut free after crash with highways vehicle
A driver had to be cut free from a car after it collided with a stationary highways vehicle on a motorway. Essex County Fire & Rescue Service, police, paramedics and highways officers were called to the M11 southbound carriageway between junction eight at Stansted Airport and junction nine for Great Chesterford at about 22:00 GMT on Saturday. Crews said the car collided with a highways roadwork protection vehicle within a closed work zone and the driver had become trapped. Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to free them before they were taken to hospital. The road was back open at 01:15. Photos taken by Newport Fire Station as well as Saffron Walden Fire Station shared on social media show the car involved with its roof, doors and windows removed. The highways vehicle can also be seen as firefighters work around the scene. On social media, Newport Fire Station said: "A car collided with a Highways roadwork protection vehicle which was stationary. "We quickly got to work stabilising the vehicles while administering first aid to the trapped driver. "We were soon joined by Saffron Walden, we then used hydraulic cutting equipment to extricate the trapped driver from the car."
