Alex Scott shows off midriff in retro Arsenal kit and sips bubbly with Jess Glynne at Women's Champions League final

ALEX SCOTT went down memory lane with partner Jess Glynne - as they watched Arsenal Women make history. The football presenter sipped champagne with singer Glynne in the Lisbon stands as they wore retro tops and cheered the Gunners to glory in the Women's Champions League final. 14 14 Sub Stina Blackstenius's brilliant 74th-minute strike edged out favourites and holders Barcelona 1-0. Scott, 40, was in the Arsenal side on the only other occasion they lifted the crown - in 2007 when it was called the Uefa Women's Cup. And she looked as toned as she did back then - in a cropped yellow shirt revealing her impressive abs. Glynne was seen grinning as the couple looked on in classic short-sleeved tops from 1988-90, midway during Arsenal's JVC sponsorship era. Ex-defender Scott walked down steps with a glass of bubbly in each hand. Yet at times Glynne looked to be enjoying herself even more than the famous ex-Gunner. The 35-year-old smiled and laughed as the couple settled in for the action at the Estadio Jose Alvalade stadium in the Portuguese capital. In fact, they could not have looked more relaxed - in contrast to the entertaining but tense final that developed below them on the pitch. Barcelona 's Irene Paredes slid in to net an own goal - only for VAR to deny Arsenal that opener as crosser Frida Maanum was ruled offside. But although the Spaniards were often on top, Leah Williamson masterminded the Gunners' fierce defending. And Blackstenius came on to fire a first-time winner for WSL runners-up Arsenal following a sublime pass from fellow substitute Beth Mead. Scott was ecstatic at the end after making her way down to the pitch - celebrating with arms as wide as any of the club's current players. It was sheer joy from the BBC star, who as a player won 140 caps for the Lionesses and lifted the WSL crown five times. Scott's relationship with Glynne became public two years ago. She's since called it "special" and is keen to protect it. Meanwhile, the couple have shared blissful snaps - including a spectacular adventure holiday in Costa Rica in January. A glimpse into Scott's glam life... 14 14 14 14 14 14 14

Arsenal stun Barca to win Champions League with late Blackstenius goal

LISBON, May 24 (Reuters) - Arsenal forward Stina Blackstenius struck a late winner as the London team shocked holders Barcelona 1-0 on Saturday to claim their second Women's Champions League title. Arsenal withstood a flurry of Barca chances before Sweden's Blackstenius broke the deadlock in the 75th minute when she latched onto fellow substitute Beth Mead's reverse pass in a crowded penalty area and fired a low diagonal shot past goalkeeper Catalina Coll at the Estadio Jose Alvalade. Renee Slegers's Gunners, who were making just their second appearance in the final in 18 years having won Europe's top competition in 2007, held on for a stunning victory to the delight of their 5,000 travelling fans. The win comes against a mighty Barcelona team playing in their sixth final in seven years and who had hoisted the trophy in three of the past four campaigns. Saturday's reverse was just their fourth loss of the season across all competitions.

Barca (Man City) attacking/controlling the game, Arsenal (Palace) could nick this on the counter. Nemo Update: Date: 25 mins Title: 'Barca would've been a little worried' Content: Arsenal 0-0 Barcelona Emma SandersBBC Sport women's football news reporter at Estadio Jose Alvalade A huge moment for Arsenal. They have definitely caused Barcelona problems and rattled them a little bit. Frida Maanum did look offside straight away but Barca would have been a little worried. Update: Date: 17:25 BST Title: 'Warning sign for Barcelona' Content: Arsenal 0-0 Barcelona Izzy ChristiansenFormer England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live at Estadio Jose Alvalade It is really good offensive final third play from Arsenal. Apart from the offside. A brilliant run, but Frida Maanum failed to time it later. That is a massive warning sign for Barcelona. They have not been at the races. Update: Date: 24 mins Title: Post Content: Arsenal 0-0 Barcelona Jen BeattieFormer Arsenal defender on TNT Sports To the naked eye, I thought she might've been offside. It just goes to show the uncertainly those runs in behind can cause. Update: Date: 23 mins Title: DISALLOWED GOAL - Arsenal Content: Arsenal 0-0 Barcelona Arsenal think they have taken the lead when Frida Maanum gets free on the right wing and her low cross is diverted into her own net by Barcelona defender Irene Paredes. But Paredes is the most relieved person in Lisbon as an offside check shows Maanum had gone too early when collecting the ball. A let off for Barcelona. They have to take their chances though. Dave, London Update: Date: 19 mins Title: 'Got to pick the moments to be aggressive' Content: Arsenal 0-0 Barcelona Izzy ChristiansenFormer England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live at Estadio Jose Alvalade Arsenal at their best are when they're aggressive. With the heat you have got to pick the moments to be aggressive. You cannot go at 70% you have got to go at 100%. That's where Arsenal have got to manage the game. Update: Date: 18 mins Title: Post Content: Arsenal 0-0 Barcelona A dangerous corner is swung into the Arsenal box from the right by Mapi Leon and goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar starts to come for the ball but doesn't get there, and is relieved to see team-mate Alessia Russo make a vital clearing header. Update: Date: 17:15 BST Title: Post Content: Arsenal 0-0 Barcelona Emma SandersBBC Sport women's football news reporter at Estadio Jose Alvalade Aitana Bonmati was annoyed with herself and was gesturing she should have curled it into the top corner instead. Barcelona haven't really controlled the game yet which they are not used to. Update: Date: 16 mins Title: 'Beautiful play from Barcelona' Content: Arsenal 0-0 Barcelona Izzy ChristiansenFormer England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live at Estadio Jose Alvalade Again, beautiful play from Barcelona. The chop from Aitana Bonmati, she shifts it onto her left foot. The covering defender, Chloe Kelly sliding across to block it. Update: Date: 17:14 BST Title: 'More of that' Content: Arsenal 0-0 Barcelona Jen BeattieFormer Arsenal defender on TNT Sports On the Foord chance... Foord is really unlucky not to get that goalward. What a ball, what a run, more of that from Arsenal. That's a huge confidence boost, knowing they can threaten the backline of Barcelona. Update: Date: 15 mins Title: Post Content: Arsenal 0-0 Barcelona Aitana Bonmati is proving a real handful for the Arsenal defence. She jinks inside her marker inside the penalty area, but Chloe Kelly has tracked back well and is able to get a vital block in, with the ball tamely looping up into the hands of Daphne van Domselaar. Update: Date: 14 mins Title: Post Content: Arsenal 0-0 Barcelona Better from Arsenal. Kim Little plays an angled pass to the back post and Caitlin Foord has space to either head at goal or nod it across for a team-mate, but in the end she does neither with the header drifting harmlessly wide. That was a chance. Update: Date: 13 mins Title: Post Content: Arsenal 0-0 Barcelona Emma SandersBBC Sport women's football news reporter at Estadio Jose Alvalade Barcelona fans have just started chanting Claudia Pina's name after Arsenal supporters booed her going down following a challenge from Chloe Kelly. It gives the defending champions a bit of a boost and Mariona Caldentey - of all people - was almost robbed in the box twice. Update: Date: 12 mins Title: 'You can't get away with it' Content: Arsenal 0-0 Barcelona Jen BeattieFormer Arsenal defender on TNT Sports Square balls across the box - you can't get away with it - especially not against this team. Update: Date: 11 mins Title: 'Bizarre from Arsenal' Content: Arsenal 0-0 Barcelona Izzy ChristiansenFormer England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live at Estadio Jose Alvalade Bizarre from Arsenal at the back. They tried to clear the ball three times. They're trying to pass it out of their box. That's how you don't play against Barcelona. Update: Date: 10 mins Title: Post Content: Arsenal 0-0 Barcelona Nerves in the Arsenal defence. They play a square pass inside their own penalty area and nearly get punished. Mariona Caldentey then loses the ball 18 yards out, but Arsenal somehow manage to smuggle the ball clear. Update: Date: 17:09 BST Title: Get Involved Content: #bbcfootball, WhatsApp on 03301231826 or text 81111 (UK only, standard message rates apply) Arsenal haven't conceded yet which is better than Chelsea in 2021 Matt Update: Date: 9 mins Title: Post Content: Arsenal 0-0 Barcelona Panic in the Arsenal defence as goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar has to come out of her penalty area and try to clear her lines. The clearance is unconvincing, but luckily for Arsenal it doesn't land at a red and blue shirt. Update: Date: 8 mins Title: 'Overloading the wide area' Content: Arsenal 0-0 Barcelona Izzy ChristiansenFormer England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live at Estadio Jose Alvalade I have already identified an issue with Arsenal. Out of possession Barcelona are overloading the wide area. That's how Barcelona are escaping Arsenal's press.

Favourites Barcelona not taking Arsenal lightly in women's CL final

LISBON : Although Barcelona are strong favourites to hoist the women's Champions League trophy on Saturday for the fourth time in five years, they will be taking nothing for granted. Barcelona play Arsenal at Lisbon's Estadio Jose Alvalade and while the London side were the 2007 champions and once regulars in the competition's latter stages, the pendulum has now swung heavily in the Spanish side's favour. Barcelona players have made 48 collective appearances in Champions League finals, according to Opta Sports, while Mariona Caldentey is their only Arsenal player to have featured in the final, playing in five for Barcelona between 2019-24. "A final is unpredictable. There may be things you can't control," Barca midfielder Alexia Putellas told reporters on Friday. "We know we can do it. It is true that Arsenal are a great team and that they are in the final for a reason." Aitana Bonmati, the Ballon d'Or winner in 2023 and 2024, said the experience gained from previous finals was invaluable. "I've learned a lot of things. It is the path that has fallen to us. The first final in Budapest was an inexperienced team that was going to see what happened. Now we are the team to beat," she said. "Knowing how to be, knowing how to suffer is very important. And never giving up. We have had finals where we have come back. We have had games of all colours." Arsenal were Barcelona's first opponents in Europe's top club competition in the 2012-13 season, when the English side crushed the Catalans 7-0 over two legs. Barcelona were nowhere near as good as they are now, however. They overwhelmed Chelsea, who went unbeaten across the 22-game Women's Super League season en route to winning the title, 8-2 on aggregate in the Champions League semi-finals. "Everything leads you to be what you are now," Putellas said. "In that first match of this competition it was unthinkable what would come next. It's thanks to work. I feel privileged to have been able to live this whole journey." Barcelona coach Pere Romeu described Arsenal as a "brave team" who are strong in the box. "We will have to show our best version," he said. "We know the type of game we want to play. We are a team with records, with mastery at different times. We will try to exploit the space they leave us."
