Success for Wicklow students at Leinster outdoor track-and-field championships
Ethan Bramhill (pictured, right) of Greystones Community College unsurprisingly placed first in the junior boys' 1,500-metre race, with the 14-year-old Irish schools international winning in a time of four minutes, 22.3 seconds, more than five seconds clear of second place.
Florence Harte of St Kevin's Community College in Dunlavin placed first in the junior girls' triple jump, with her 9.84-metre jump on attempt three winning gold.
Grace Norton was the under-16 girls' long jump champion, and the Scoil Chonglais student sealed the deal on her first attempt, a 4.94-metre jump.
Elsewhere there were second-place finishes for Maria Zakharenko (Avondale Community College) in the senior girls' 400-metre sprint; Cara Wright (St Kevins, Dunlavin) in the senior girls' discus; and Charlier Seery Frier (Coláiste Chill Mhantáin) in the boys' 75-metre hurdles race.
There was success, too, for Temple Carrig, who managed to take double third place in two separate sprint events.
Gaelle Cherry Kinito placed third in the senior girls' 100-metre hurdle race; and Benen Dallaghan matched that effort in the boys' minor 100-metre sprint.
