Baylor bows out of Big 12 Tournament
ARLINGTON, Texas (FOX 44) — A short stay at Globe Life Field sees Baylor baseball's season come to a close with a 4-3 loss in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament.
The 10th-seeded Bears led 3-1 into the sixth inning but a pair of late errors allowed the No. 7-seeded Oklahoma State Cowboys to come from behind and eliminate Baylor from this year's conference tournament.
Junior left-handed pitcher Ethan Calder gave the Bears five solid innings on the mound, allowing just one run on two hits with five strikeouts. Sixth-year senior closer Gabe Craig turned in 1.2 scoreless innings and punched out four.
Redshirt senior designated hitter Hunter Simmons had two hits and redshirt senior outfielder Enzo Apodaca scored two runs for Baylor offensively to help keep things close in the losing effort.
'I think our guys competed their tails off,' Baylor head baseball coach Mitch Thompson said. 'I thought they played real hard and played to win…I thought we were going to overcome a few things at the end but didn't seem to be able to do it. I thought our guys did a heck of a job and I'm proud of them for the year, proud of them for today, for the game, and proud of how they go about their business.'
Baylor finishes the 2025 season with a 33-22 record.
