South Carolina slugger Petry's return ‘questionable' following shoulder injury
USC head baseball coach Paul Mainieri said Monday that when his top slugger Ethan Petry returns from a shoulder injury suffered Saturday at Kentucky is 'questionable' and the coach added that they could 'end up playing the rest of the season without him ,' Mainieri added on his weekly radio interview on Columbia's 107.5 FM. Petry hurt his left shoulder when he crashed into the padding on the side wall in right field as he pursued a fly ball. Following a pop up in his next at bat, he grabbed his shoulder and exited the game. He leads the team with 10 homer runs and 34 RBI to go along with his .329 batting average. His long term loss would be a huge blow to a 25-win Gamecocks team that's 5-13 in the SEC and is attempting to put together a run in May to make the SEC tourney as well as build a resume for a potential NCAA Tourney at-large bid.
