Katie Price reveals her biggest regret over failed Eurovision Song Contest bid

Remember when Katie Price almost represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest? Exactly 20 years ago, the former glamour model tried her luck in the selection process to perform in the Grand Final, which, that year, took place in Kyiv, Ukraine, after their 2004 victory. The United Kingdom was ultimately represented by Javine with Touch My Fire, which she co-wrote. Javine, now 43, triumphed in Eurovision: Making Your Mind Up, giving her the honour of singing her tune in front of the live audience in the Palace of Sports venue. Things were nearly very different, though, as Katie, who had a fledgling pop career in the 2000s, finished second in the selection battle, beating fellow UK hopefuls Andy Scott-Lee, 1996 UK entrant Gina G, and the group Tricolore. She narrowly missed out on the chance to perform in Ukraine, finishing with 101 points behind Javine's 116. Reflecting on her Eurovision era, Katie has now admitted that she doesn't look back fondly on the experience. Speaking on the latest episode of her podcast, The Katie Price Show, Katie told her sister, Sophie: 'For years and years, I always remember us always watching Eurovision, and then I was up to do it.' 'I can't wait for the Eurovision,' she said ahead of this year's Grand Final in Basel, Switzerland, in which girl group Remember Monday will represent the UK. Katie added solemnly: 'I haven't got any memories of Eurovision apart from when I was gonna represent the UK, and they weren't good memories.' The TV personality was pregnant with her second child, son Junior Andre, at the time, having also married Peter Andre in 2005. Katie's tune was called Not Just Anybody, and it's one that easily springs back into her mind today. 'What was your song?', Sophie asked her, to which Katie instantly began singing. She replied to the prompt with the lyrics, 'I'm not just anybody…', with Sophie jumping in out of cringe: 'Oh god, that song!' Katie then explained that she struggled with the track and still does now: 'The thing is, I couldn't even sing the song then, and I couldn't sing it now, yet I can sing. But I still can't sing that song.' 'It's just all political stuff, as usual – but anyway, that's always a regret of mine, doing that,' she added, suggesting that she wouldn't try out for Eurovision again given the chance. 'If there's any regret of any job, it was me doing Eurovision in the pink rubber catsuit, being seven months pregnant. Trying to hide the fact that I was pregnant.' More Trending Indeed, photographic evidence lives on forever, as Katie wore what can only be described as a peak Katie Price outfit for the competition, which was, as she remembers, a vibrant Barbie pink jumpsuit embellished with silver gems. She was a blonde bombshell at the time, wearing her bleached locks in tight curls. Although the universe works in mysterious ways. While she didn't win the Eurovision selection heat, Katie probably dodged a bullet, as Javine didn't exactly return to a winner's parade. Alas, she placed 22nd on the leaderboard, scoring just 18 points, while Greece emerged as champions thanks to the song My Number One, performed by Helena Paparizou. Got a story?
