Town centre café to close months after tragic death of owner
A POPULAR town centre café is to close following the tragic death of its owner earlier this year.
Silly Goose based in The Rum Story in Whitehaven has announced it is to shut just a few months after the death of owner, Eva Nann.
Her family had continued to run the business after the 46-year-old died in February while receiving specialist cancer treatment in Germany.
She had travelled to Munich to receive treatment after an online fundraising page set up by her family reached nearly £20,000.
Silly Goose was previously located on Duke Street but moved to The Rum Story in September last year before Eva became ill.
In an announcement on social media, Eva's family said 'it just isn't the same without her', despite trying everything they possibly could 'to keep Eva's legacy alive'.
Posting on Facebook, they said: 'The past five years of meeting all of you and getting the support we did will forever be cherished. Hopefully this isn't a goodbye, and we hope to reopen in the future.
'Until then, unfortunately this was a devastating decision that had to be made. We will keep you updated on this page for any future information regarding reopening if so.
'Cake orders can still be placed through Silly Goose page. We once again thank you for everything and hopefully this isn't goodbye.
'Your support has been unmatched.
'Goodbye for now.'
