Signaller killed on worksite in Saint-Jérôme, Que.
A traffic signaller has been killed on a worksite in Saint-Jérôme, Que., north of Montreal.
Saint-Jérôme city spokesperson Eve Chalifour said that the woman was a private contractor hired by the city working on the corner of Gauthier and Pilon streets.
'We do not know the precise circumstances of the accident,' said Chalifour. 'An investigation is underway by the relevant authorities, including the Saint-Jérôme police department and the CNESST. The city is cooperating fully with these authorities to shed full light on the circumstances of the event that occurred on its territory.'
The block between Danis, Gauthier, Pierre le Moyne and Pilon streets is closed, while authorities investigate the tragedy.
'The health and safety of workers is a priority for the city, and we include strict health and safety requirements in our contracts,' said Chalifour.
