Oakland-based soul food staple to open at Fisherman's Wharf in SF
SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A longtime staple for soul food in Oakland is opening its first location in one of San Francisco's most-visited tourist attractions. Everett & Jones BBQ is opening at Fisherman's Wharf, according to the Port of San Francisco.
The restaurant will span about 4,363 square feet across two floors. Everett & Jones will be located at 300 Jefferson St., which is the former home of Lou's Fish Shack that closed in 2020 due to pandemic-related reasons, the port said. It is a short walk across the street from In-N-Out.
Everett & Jones signed a 10-year lease that is estimated to total about $1.82 million across the term, according to the Port of San Francisco. That's about $152,000 per year for base rent, plus the likelihood of an annual rent increase. The restaurant has two five-year options to renew, pending the SF Board of Supervisor's approval.
Grocery Outlet to take over vacant Fisherman's Wharf site
The opening of Everett & Jones fills a void of soul food at Fisherman's Wharf. According to the Port of San Francisco, the opening will support its following objectives of 'Economic Growth,' 'Economic Recovery,' 'Equity' and 'Engagement and Public Awareness.'
'When the restaurant opens, it will fill a void for a full-service restaurant on Jefferson Street in Fisherman's Wharf, serving locals and visitors alike,' the Port of San Francisco wrote.
According to Tripadvisor, Everett & Jones is rated the 18th best (out of 1,338) restaurant in Oakland. Everett & Jones was founded in Oakland's Jack London Square back in 1973. The restaurant has received attention from national publications such as Forbes.
There are currently two Everett & Jones locations in the Bay Area — both in Oakland. There is one at 126 Broadway and another at 4245 MacArthur Blvd. There was an Antioch location that closed after two years.
