David Beckham gives brief shout-out to son Brooklyn on Mother's Day amid rumored feud
David Beckham gave a shout-out to his son, Brooklyn Beckham, on Mother's Day amid their rumored feud. The retired soccer star, 50, posted an Instagram tribute to his wife, Victoria Beckham, with a throwback photo that featured all four of their children, including Brooklyn, 26. The years-old picture showed Victoria, 51, cradling their daughter Harper, 13, as a baby while the couple's sons Brooklyn, Romeo, 22, and Cruz, 20, snuggled up next to the girls. 'It's something that me and my dad bonded over,' Brooklyn told the publication at Miami's Formula E's Evo Sessions two months ago. 'My dad's had some pretty cool cars.' Brooklyn is allegedly at odds with his whole family, to the point where he and wife Nicola Peltz skipped David's 50th birthday bash in London last weekend. YouTuber MrBeast Crashed a Formula E Race Car in Miami
MrBeast's latest lap on the race track didn't exactly go as planned. The YouTube star, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, crashed Formula E's electric GEN3 Evo race car he was driving at an event in Miami last week, Road and Track reported. Though he lost control of the car and spun into the wall, the content creator wasn't injured, and the car was not too badly damaged, either. More from Robb Report F1 Might Bring Back V-10s and Their Famous Noise Gordon Murray Says It's Easier to Win an F1 Championship Than Le Mans-Here's Why F1 Drivers Could Now Face a One-Month Ban for Offensive Language Donaldson hopped into the lime-green racer to take part in Formula E's Evo Sessions event. Held at the Miami International Autodrome, the gathering brought together 11 of the world's 'most-followed' personalities, including Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, Tom Felton, and sports content creator Theo Baker, to test out the GEN3 Evo. And MrBeast was off to a good start on the first lap in the race car—which has German driver David Beckmann behind the wheel during Formula E events—not far behind a Porsche Taycan Turbo GT safety car. Then, coming out of a left-hand turn in sector 1, the social-media star spun the car 360 degrees and hit the wall, Road and Track reported. Donaldson jumped out of the car, and the session came to an end after the race car was taken back to the pits. It doesn't seem like anyone was too phased by Donaldson's crash on the track. though. According to an Instagram post from Formula E captioned 'Oops,' MrBeast had a huge smile on his face after the incident. The GEN3 Evo has some pretty crazy stats behind it, with a zero-to-60-mph time of just 1.82 seconds. That's 30 percent faster than a current Formula 1 car, according to Formula E, and makes it the quickest accelerating single-seat race car in the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (the governing body of motorsports). And the model is touted as the world's first net zero carbon race car, thanks to its electric batteries with an output of 400 kW. It's also the first Formula E race car to have all-wheel drive, which enhances both performance and strategy, and is the fastest model to date with a 200 mph top speed, the company says. As for the brand behind the race car, Formula E got its start back in 2011, where the idea for an all-electric street-racing series came to life during a discussion between founder Alejandro Agag and former FIA President Jean Todt in Paris. Now a host to 12 teams and 24 drivers, the race made its debut in 2014, in Beijing's Olympic Park. The race's 11th season is currently underway, with the next race set for April 12 in Miami. Hopefully, those drivers will have much better luck on the track than MrBeast did. YouTube Star MrBeast Crashes Formula E Race Car on His Second Lap
Social media influencer James Donaldson is one of the biggest YouTube stars in the world, but you probably know him by his online handle: MrBeast. However, while he may have the internet acumen to rack up more than 370 million subscribers on YouTube... it seems his driving skills could use a little work. During a Formula E event in Miami on Thursday, MrBeast lost control of the Formula E GEN3 Evo he was driving and spun into the wall. Thankfully, the only injury was to his ego, and the car didn't appear to be badly damaged. So, what was MrBeast doing behind the wheel of a Formula E car capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 1.8 seconds? He was driving as part of Formula E's "Evo Sessions" event, held at the Miami International Autodrome on March 5 and 6, which brought together 11 of the world's most-followed personalities and gave them the opportunity to drive the electric racers. MrBeast was piloting the car that is usually driven by German driver David Beckmann, following a Porsche Taycan Turbo GT safety car. The first lap went off without a hitch, and MrBeast appeared to be getting confident as he got closer to the safety car. That confidence likely eroded quickly, however, the second he spun the car 360 degrees while coming out of a left-hand turn in sector 1, causing the car to clip the wall on the left side of the track. Donaldson was able to quickly jump out of the car; however, the session was stopped while the car was hauled back to the pits. Based on social media footage from the scene, no one appeared to be too bothered by the incident. MrBeast was all smiles as he described his ordeal, saying that it felt like he'd spun four time before hitting the wall and asking people around him to explain what had happened. Consider MrBeast's Formula E crash just another example of how difficult it is to control a proper racing car. If you want to be a world-class driver, it takes a lot of dedication and practice — no matter how many YouTube followers you have. This Harry Potter star trades wand for wheel to tout a Miami electric car race
Two things you wouldn't normally associate with climate activism: Car racing and Draco Malfoy, the smug bullyboy wizard of the Harry Potter book and movie franchise. But here they were magically together in Miami this week to promote an upcoming race featuring cars almost as slick as the Nimbus 2001 broomstick Malfoy rode in quidditch competitions. Tom Felton, the actor who played Draco throughout the series, was among the celebrity drivers at a demonstration in Miami Gardens in advance of an April race at Homestead-Miami Speedway featuring Formula E vehicles. That E stands for electric. And this event featuring Felton and other celebrities and influencers was designed to show fans that race cars don't have to be roaring, gas-guzzling, pollution-spewing machines. You can also go zero to 60 in under two seconds in a vehicle that emits zero emissions and that is stunningly quiet – except for the whoooosh sound of it splitting the air. One of the leading missions of the Formula E racing series, its organizers say, is to pave the way for electric cars on the road and test and develop the latest, most competitive technology. The Formula E Championship was the first sport with a 'net zero' carbon footprint — meaning the series reduced its climate impact (beyond no fossil fuels coming out of tailpipes) by recycling some of their parts and donating money to sustainable projects in the cities they visit. 'We're trying to make it a better future, we're trying to develop that technology that hopefully one day will be on the normal road cars and hopefully this will help everyone adopt electric cars,' said professional race car driver Sébastien Buemi, who competed in Formula One from 2009 to 2011, and won the 2015 Formula E championship. For the event at the track around Hard Rock Stadium, dubbed the 'Evo Sessions,' Buemi switched roles from driver to coach to prepare a clearly cautious Felton to take some spins around the track in a daunting new role as racing whizz-ard. 'I'm going to take it nice and easy,' Felton said, wiping sweat away from his face before getting in the car. 'The team has looked after me, and prepared me to the best of their ability so the rest is up to me.' He sported Slytherin-green in a Envision Racing group car that had 'race against climate change' written on the body wrap. Some of the other guest drivers were also high-profile in their own way: former Argentine soccer player Sergio Agüero; Brooklyn Beckham, designer and son of David Beckham; and content creator Cleo Abram. Buemi, who drove in Formula 1 before signing on with Envision, said in electric motorsports there is an incentive to be efficient and light – helpful to making cars more sustainable. And Formula E claims there have already been big improvements since the first season in 2014. Roger Griffiths, the principal of the Andretti Global team, said he remembered in the first championship drivers had to switch cars during a 45-minute race because of limited car battery life. 'Now we can do a 45-minute race at a much higher power level, at a much faster pace with just one car,' Griffiths said. 'We're about 3-seconds a lap faster than last year's car.' The car everybody drove at the Wednesday for-the-media-only event is called the GEN3 Evo. Unveiled in April 2024, it's said to be 36% faster than its predecessor. There's a sleeker body, new tires with more grip – and a switch in how players can utilize 'attack mode.' Buemi explained some of the things that make EV racing different than, say, NASCAR, where famous and fictional champion Ricky Bobby might put it pedal to the metal from the wave of the green flag. If you try to go full out the entire time in a EV racer, you'll run out of juice before your final lap, he said. But a new 'attack mode' provides eight minutes of full-on power – for those familiar with the video game Mario Kart, it's something like the speed boost you get collecting coins. Buemi said attack mode pumps juice to all four wheels with 'an absolutely massive performance boost.' It comes on so strong that drivers have to pull off the course to push the button, he said. But letting celebrities get behind the wheel didn't come without risks. None of the celebs went into attack mode, but even without that boost, YouTuber Mr. Beast, who made a surprise appearance, spun out and hit a wall. Damage to the car seemed limited. 'It felt like I did like four spins, I was like, any second I'm going to ruin Jeremy's car,' James Stephen 'Jimmy' Donaldson, who goes by online, said on Formula E's Instagram. Formula E will be back in Miami on April 12 at the Homestead-Miami Speedway in the fifth stop of the 17-race 2025 season.
