Davide has been working under his dad Carlo for the past 13 years, spending much of the last decade as his assistant. He was promoted to the No2 role while at Bayern Munich in 2016 and went on to perform the same role under his legendary father at Napoli, Everton and Real Madrid. The Ancelottis' four-year stint at the Bernabeu officially came to an end at the weekend just gone. There were plenty of conflicting reports regarding whether or not Davide was joining his dad in Brazil or not, before Carlo finally confirmed he was NOT there on Monday night. Speaking at his first press conference as Brazil boss, Carlo said: "Davide is currently in negotiations with a European team, and it didn't seem right to bring him in. "If he goes to a club, I wish him the best, and if not, he can come back to us." Advertisement Those comments sent excitement rocketing among Rangers fans, who assumed that the Ibrox club would be the one being referred to by ex-AC Milan and Chelsea manager Carlo. However, in a fresh interview with Sky Sports, Carlo appears to have suggested that his son isn't only speaking to Rangers. That was earlier this month when their boss Cesc Fabregas had been heavily linked with the Bayer Leverkusen job. Ex-Spain star Fabregas has stayed put and that job has gone to Erik ten Hag. Man Detained After Reports That Car Hit Crowds At Liverpool's Title Parade
LONDON (Reuters) - A car ploughed into a crowd of Liverpool fans during a parade celebrating their side's Premier League soccer title on Monday, and police arrested a 53-year-old British man shortly afterwards. Merseyside police said a 'number of pedestrians' were hit after the team's open-top coach carried players and coaching staff through the city centre for a victory parade. Unverified social media video showed people lying in the road. A Reuters photographer saw emergency services carrying victims on stretchers to ambulances and debris scattered on the road. A tent was set up. 'We would ask people not to speculate on the circumstances surrounding tonight's incident,' police said. 'Extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances leading up to the collision.' An unverified video on social media showed a car driving at speed into fans lining the street, at one point appearing to swerve away from the most densely crowded area. Police surrounded the vehicle shortly afterwards, and other videos showed angry fans attempting to reach the driver. Prime Minister Keir Starmer said on X that the scenes were 'appalling' and he was being updated about the events. 'My thoughts are with all those injured or affected. I want to thank the police and emergency services for their swift and ongoing response to this shocking incident,' Starmer said. The team said on X it was in direct contact with police about the event. 'Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been affected by this serious incident,' Liverpool FC said.
