BJP MLA feted at House of Lords in UK
Lucknow: Sarojininagar MLA Rajeshwar Singh was conferred with the 'Excellence in Political and Public Life' award at the House of Lords, United Kingdom, in recognition of his remarkable contributions to law enforcement, legal advocacy, and legislative reform.
At the iconic Palace of Westminster, Singh was honoured alongside distinguished global leaders, including India's law minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, solicitor general Tushar Mehta, former attorney general Mukul Rohatgi, Lord Virendra Sharma, and judicial figures from Australia and Dubai.
Speaking at the ceremony, Singh emphasised the critical role of the UK-India Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in reshaping global trade dynamics. "A robust legal partnership will be essential to navigate WTO regulations, ensure dispute resolution, and enable seamless commercial arbitration between the UK and India," he said, highlighting the strategic value of legal diplomacy and regulatory cooperation through initiatives like the UK India Legal Partnership (UKILP).
Singh also underlined the economic opportunities the FTA holds for Uttar Pradesh, which has nearly doubled its exports since 2017.
