Waterbury considers intersection, safety improvements on popular intersection
WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — Waterbury officials with the engineering department said they're considering intersection and safety improvements to popular streets as part of the Exchange Place Streetscape project.

The improvements would be made at South Main Street and Scovill Street. Officials said the removal of a stop bar, stop sign and crosswalk at the center of the intersection is under consideration.
The intersection would be changed to create an all-way stop, intended to be safer for pedestrians and drivers.
The pilot program will see the effectiveness of a new stop bar and stop sign for northbound traffic on South Main Street would be.
Temporary payment markings will be installed and existing markings will be blacked out, beginning on June 15 and ending on Oct. 15.
