Yoga camps held at Nandalur and Srisasilam
District Collector Sridhar Chamakuri on Saturday inaugurated a yoga camp at the famous Sowmyanatha Swamy Temple in Nandalur town of Rajampeta division in Annamayya district. The event, part of the State government's Yogandhra 2025 initiative, saw the participation of nearly 2,000 yoga enthusiasts, mostly youth.
Addressing the gathering, the Collector highlighted the significance of practicing yoga daily for physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. 'Making yoga a daily routine will make one benefit from a balanced and progressive lifestyle. Yoga does play a vital role in building a vibrant and healthy Andhra Pradesh,' Mr. Chamakuri said.
The Collector praised all the departments and the public for their contribution to the success of the Nandalur edition of the yoga camp. Joint Collector Adarsh Rajendran, District Tourism Officer Nagabhushan, senior officials from the forest, Excise DRDA, and Revenue and Police departments took part in the event.
At Srisailam in Nandyal district, a gathering of over 2,000 participants performed yoga from Gangadhara Mandapam to Nandi Circle. District Collector G. Rajakumari, local MLA B. Rajasekhar Reddy, and other senior officials of various government departments took part in the programme.
Senior yoga guru Gandhavalla Balasubrahmanyam led the proceedings of the session, guiding the participants to perform different postures, breathing techniques, and devotional dance. The Collector addressing the gathering stressed on yoga's benefits for physical and mental wellbeing. She said that over 8 lakh people were being trained across the Nandyal district.
She said that more yoga events would be held at Belum Caves, Mahanandi, and Pancharla ahead of International Yoga Day on June 21. 'We also encourage senior citizens and tribal communities to join the initiative,' the Collector added.
