CGV unveils advanced format lineup for February
ScreenX, 4DX and IMAX screens showcase fresh titles from Marvel's latest to Oscar winner Bong Joon-ho's "Mickey 17"
Multiplex cinema chain CGV has unveiled its premium and large-format slate for February. Marvel's "Captain America: Brave New World," Bong Joon-ho's "Mickey 17" and the supernatural anime "Exorcism Chronicles" are among the lineup to screen at ScreenX, 4DX and IMAX theaters.
The theater chain steps up the viewer experience through ScreenX's three-wall panoramic display, 4DX's sensory effects and Ultra 4DX's combination of the technologies. It rounds out its premium offerings with IMAX's crystal-clear projection and Dolby Atmos' immersive sound, according to the company.
"Captain America: Brave New World" arrives Feb. 12, featuring Marvel's signature action across all premium formats. ScreenX and IMAX will play up the film's sweeping aerial sequences as 4DX punches up the shield-wielding combat with motion effects.
Oscar winner Bong Joon-ho's latest "Mickey 17" makes its world premiere Feb. 28, a week before its North American release. ScreenX will spread the film's outer space landscapes across its 270-degree view, pulling viewers into its stark vistas.
The animated "Exorcism Chronicles" drops Feb. 21, bringing its supernatural battles to ScreenX, 4DX, and Ultra 4DX theaters. Yongsan CGV's four-sided ScreenX setup will wrap viewers in the fantasy universe, with 4DX effects amping up both action sequences and emotional moments.
Sports anime "Kuroko's Basketball: Last Game" and K-pop concert film "Red Velvet Happiness Diary" hit screens Feb. 5. The basketball film will pair with 4DX to bring out its dynamic court action, while Red Velvet's performances will be spread across ScreenX's multi-angle setup.
The lineup wraps up with "Flow," a 15-minute art performance, coming Feb. 26, which maps out art history through dance on ScreenX's expanded canvas.
"Our premium formats dive into every genre this month," said Jeon Jung-hyun, head of CGV's content organization team. "Each advanced screen brings viewers right into the action, from blockbusters to concert films."
