Seagate 20TB External Hard Drive Just $0.01 Per GB, Amazon Rushes to Empty Its Inventory
The amount of photos, videos and files that we have on our devices makes traditional storage options obsolete. If you have a hard drive that has 2, 3, 4, or even 5TB of space, it is almost useless when a single vacation's worth of high-res photos and video can take up ample space. That's why smart people are looking for big, reliable external drives, and what better time to upgrade to an external drive? Seagate's long history of reliability and durability makes them a great brand to go with: Amazon has the Seagate expansion 20TB external hard drive at a record low (and all time low) price now of $229, over 50% off of the launch price of $499. What is even better is the 22TB and 24TB models are on sale as well for $289 and $279 respectively. See at Amazon Lifetime Storage Why take someone's word when here is a drive that could last a lifetime? The Seagate Expansion 20TB is a 'long term investment' in your digital life. If you're a creative professional or just someone who wants to keep every precious memory safe, this drive could last you years of content. Add to that Seagate's reputation for reliability means, you can rest assured that your data will be safe and secure for ages. In comparison to cloud storage, which will run a minimum of $10 a month (and often much higher for larger capacities), this one-time payment option is a bargain. The process of opening the box to setup the Seagate 20TB HDD is fantastically easy: The drive is designed to be very simple to use and you just plug in the included power adapter and USB 3.0 cable and you are all set. USB 3.0 has the added benefit of helping to move files quickly and efficiently with minimal time wasted for large files. Also, it will seamlessly work on either your Windows computer or Mac. What we really liked about this drive is the included Rescue Data Recovery Services. Accidents can happen to anyone, and when they do, having a safety net can be critical. Seagate's data recovery service takes the worry out of it by knowing if something goes wrong, experts could recover your files. Unfortunately, many external drives don't offer you any data recovery protection, so this is a real plus for Seagate. Since Seagate Expansion 20TB is a desktop-type external hard, it works perfectly in a home office, home studio space, and to help anyone centralize their digital file storage. The 3.5-inch size will also provide better performance and reliability than the small-portable external options. Plus, the shape and size of this product looks really nice and easy to manage. If you were going to upgrade your method of backup and storage options, now is the time to do so. See at Amazon

Spain's BBVA could cut up to 2,500 jobs after Sabadell integration, Expansion says
MADRID, May 14 (Reuters) - Spain's BBVA ( opens new tab could cut up to 2,500 jobs after the acquisition and a subsequent integration of smaller rival Sabadell ( opens new tab, newspaper Expansion reported on Wednesday. The preliminary calculations from BBVA would be equivalent to slightly less than 6% of the current combined workforce of around 42,000 employees in Spain, according to unidentified sources cited by the paper. The government opposes the hostile takeover bid, currently worth more than 14 billion euros ($15.66 billion), and rejected by Sabadell, on concerns it could lead to job losses. The number of planned job cuts could change depending on whether or not BBVA is allowed to merge the two banks and the potential conditions imposed by the government, Expansion said. BBVA declined to comment. Under Spanish law, the government cannot stop a bid, but it has the final word on whether a merger goes ahead. In the case the government blocked a full merger, BBVA might be able to integrate Sabadell at a later stage and in the meantime keep Sabadell as a separate unit. Spain's competition watchdog approved the proposed deal with remedies last month while the government opened last week a non-binding public consultation on the matter. BBVA has not disclosed how many jobs would be cut, only saying it will close 300 branches. As part of its targeted 850 million euros in cost savings, BBVA has said that 450 million euros would be administrative and IT savings, 300 million euros related to job cuts and 100 million euros in funding savings. The possibility that BBVA could end up with a majority share in Sabadell without an outright merger has prompted questions about whether BBVA can deliver the synergies. ($1 = 0.8938 euros)

Spain's Abanca denies report of merger talks with Sabadell
MADRID: Spanish lender Abanca is not interested in a merger with Sabadell, it said on Monday, dismissing a report in newspaper Expansion it was considering such a deal in response to a hostile takeover bid from BBVA. The newspaper cited unidentified sources as saying Sabadell had held preliminary talks with shareholders in Abanca, which is majority-owned by businessman Juan Carlos Escotet. 'Abanca wishes to reiterate that it has no interest in this transaction,' the lender said in a statement, adding it would not comment further on market speculation. Sabadell declined to comment on the Expansion report. Spain's competition watchdog, the CNMC, has approved BBVA's takeover bid provided it makes concessions. The Spanish government, however, opposes the deal because of fears it could lead to job losses. It launched a non-binding public consultation on the matter last week. Spanish legislation requires the governing bodies of a company targeted in a takeover bid to remain passive and request shareholder approval before taking any action that might prevent an acquisition from succeeding. Spain must raise defence spending to 3% of GDP, says EU defence chief On Sunday, newspaper La Vanguardia reported the government told Sabadell Chairman Josep Oliu that having a core shareholder group would make it easier to fend off approaches from third parties. A spokesperson for the Spanish economy ministry said it had no information. Should any transaction materialise, it said the government would assess it according to public interest criteria. The government was focused on assessing whether additional measures on the proposed BBVA-Sabadell deal were needed, the spokesperson added. Under Spanish law, the government cannot stop a bid from being made, but it has the final word on whether a merger goes ahead. The economy ministry has until May 27 to take the deal to a cabinet meeting after the CNMC's authorisation. The government then has a month to make a final decision on whether to approve the deal with or without conditions.
