Faster Pussycat singer Taime Downe addresses fiancee's mystery cruise ship death
Faster Pussycat's lead singer Taime Downe has finally addressed his fiancée Kimberly Burch's mysterious death earlier this month. Kimberly Burch and Downe, who has been the lead vocalist of the rock band since 1985, were on an 80s-themed Royal Caribbean cruise when she fell overboard. A month on from the incident on March 2, Downe has now spoken out about Burch's death for the first time. According to US outlets, while chatting on SiriusXM, Downe said of his mental state: 'It's a roller coaster. I'm hanging in there. I'm just taking it a day at a time.' Asked whether touring with Faster Pussycat after such an event will help him, Downe said: 'My fingers are crossed. I think so. I hope so. I'm just going out and doing what I love to do with the people I love. So, I think it can't be anything but therapeutic, you know what I mean?' 'This is just heavy s**t, and I'm just looking forward to playing shows and having fun.' Asked whether it's okay to talk about Burch's death, he replied: 'No, it's good to talk about it. It's good to talk about it with my friends, my close-knit friends. But I don't really wanna talk about it with strangers, 'cause it doesn't seem appropriate. It is what it is.' Downe also claimed Burch's death was 'alcohol and prescription related,' he said, going on to add: 'I loved the hell out of Kimberly, and it was just hard to deal with. We spent basically nine years together.' As Explorer of the Seas is registered in the Bahamas, the Nassau police reviewed the case and cleared Downe of any wrongdoing, according to The Hollywood Reporter. TMZ report officials were in possession of a video that shows the moments leading up to Burch's death. A source told MailOnline that the couple were heard 'loudly arguing' prior to the incident. The insider said: 'The argument was in their cabin, their neighbors heard only yelling but nothing specific being yelled out. 'Their relationship looked amazing otherwise, there were never any complaints, little or big from either of them, they seemed to be in love with each other, very much.' The source continued, saying they had heard 'scattered stories Burch was drunk' on the night of the fatal fall but 'didn't really drink and had helped Downe with his sobriety.' Burch's mother originally shared the news of her daughter's death with TMZ, saying she's confident Burch would not have hurt herself on purpose, and claiming the couple had allegedly been arguing. She claimed Burch, who was 56 years old, had been drinking on the cruise, which was out of character for her, but that her daughter had been 'excited' about the trip. A Royal Caribbean Group spokesperson told Metro: 'Our crew immediately launched a search and rescue effort, is working with local authorities, and we are providing support and assistance to the guest's family during this difficult time. 'To respect the privacy of our guest's family, we have no additional details to share.' A US Coast Guard spokesperson also told TMZ the incident happened around 20miles away from Freeport, Bahamas, and the Coast Guard deployed a helicopter crew to assist the Royal Bahamas Defense Coast in their search. Search efforts were later suspended. More Trending A statement posted to Facebook by her family read: 'It is with broken hearts that we share the sad news that Kimberly Burch has passed away. 'She was a beloved Daughter,Sister,Sister-in-law and Aunt. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. Rachtman continued: 'How's Taime doing? Well how do you think he's doing? The woman that he's in love with, that he's lived with for the past eight years, committed suicide in front of him. Faster Pussycat Singer Cleared of Wrongdoing in Fiancée's '80s Cruise Death, Video Shows She Jumped Overboard
A video tragically showed Kimberly Burch – the fianceé of Faster Pussycat singer Taime Downe – jumping overboard of the '80s-themed Royal Caribbean Cruise she was on with the band. Earlier this week, Burch was confirmed dead after falling from the Explorer of the Seas cruise ship but security camera footage reportedly confirmed she jumped rather than fell. Radio personality and former MTV host of 'Headbangers Ball' Riki Rachtman said as much in a Facebook post where he said he was in contact with Downe – a longtime friend. 'There is video of [Burch] committing suicide and Taime was cleared of all charges.' Rachtman continued, ''How's Taime doing?' Well, how do you think he's doing? The woman that he's in love with, that he's lived with for the past eight years, committed suicide in front of him. And I feel horrible for Kimberly … that she had been in so much pain that she had to commit suicide. I know to be fact that Taime did absolutely nothing wrong, but Taime is going to be scarred for the rest of his life.' Nassau police boarded the cruise after the incident and their findings – along with the video – cleared Downe of any wrongdoing. Burch went overboard around 11 p.m. on Monday, according to media reports. The Explorer of the Seas ship was stopped for several hours while multiple boats nearby searched for the missing woman. The search was then taken over by the U.S. Coast Guard and the ship resumed its scheduled route. Burch's family confirmed her death on Facebook Tuesday morning. 'It is with broken hearts that we share the sad news that Kimberly Burch has passed away,' her family said in a statement. 'She was a beloved daughter, sister, sister-in-law and aunt. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. We ask for prayers during this time for our family as we try to wrap our minds around this heartbreaking tragedy. We love and miss you Kimberly Burch!' The post Faster Pussycat Singer Cleared of Wrongdoing in Fiancée's '80s Cruise Death, Video Shows She Jumped Overboard appeared first on TheWrap.

80s Rocker's Fiancée Dies After Falling From Cruise Ship Balcony Amid Heated Argument
Faster Pussycat frontman Taime Downe's fiancée, Kimberly Burch, has died after a tragic fall from a cruise ship during "The 80s Cruise" on the Royal Caribbean vessel, Explorer of the Seas. Kimberly Burch reportedly fell "from a room balcony" on March 2, the very first night of the seven-day cruise, following an alleged "heated" argument with the 60-year-old rocker. A US Coast Guard spokesperson confirmed the incident occurred roughly 20 miles from Freeport, Bahamas. The Coast Guard deployed a helicopter crew and other personnel to assist the Royal Bahamas Defense Force in their search. Unfortunately, the search was later suspended, and Burch's body has not been recovered. A Royal Caribbean Group spokesperson told Daily Mail: "Our crew immediately launched a search and rescue effort, is working with local authorities, and we are providing support and assistance to the guest's family during this difficult time. To respect the privacy of our guest's family, we have no additional details to share. Eyewitnesses described a tense atmosphere on board. One passenger told The Hollywood Reporter: "There was an announcement over the PA saying someone went overboard so the ship was going to stop and turn around to try and locate the person. [The] ship was stopped for a few hours. Safety boats were deployed with floodlights to illuminate the surrounding area. Another cruise ship nearby had its floodlights on searching as well. My wife spoke with some people on one of the decks saying they heard that it was a woman and it was caught on camera. Can't confirm though. Eventually the ship powered up and off we went. This morning a PA announcement said that the US Coast Guard had taken over the search. We arrived at Nassau, Bahamas a few hours behind schedule. No excursions were canceled. Haven't heard anything since." The cruise, which departed from Miami, was scheduled to visit Nassau, San Juan, and Labadee. Burch had traveled on the cruise to support Downe, who was scheduled to perform with his band during the nostalgic event. The couple, who had been in a relationship for around five or six years, appeared to be enjoying the trip prior to the tragedy. Just hours before her fall, Burch shared a photo of herself and Downe on social media, writing, "We made it to @the80scruise." Kimberly Burch's mother, Carnell Burch, shared with TMZ that Taime Downe called her on Monday to inform her of Kimberly's death. According to Carnell, it remains "still unclear" whether Kimberly "jumped or accidentally fell" from the cruise ship, though she is "confident Kimberly would not purposefully hurt herself." Carnell noted that Kimberly had been drinking on the cruise, which she described as "out of character for her." She also mentioned that her daughter had an argument with Taime before the tragic incident. Despite this, Carnell emphasized that Kimberly was not experiencing depression or emotional issues and had been looking forward to the trip, which had only just begun. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. EST on the first night of the cruise, approximately 80 miles from Miami. According to a passenger on X, formerly Twitter, Kimberly "jumped from the balcony of her 8th-floor room" following an argument with her partner. The passenger wrote, 'Currently on the #RCL Explorer of the Seas for the #80scruise. Unfortunately, we have a 'woman overboard' situation and boats have been deployed. We are currently 80+ miles from Miami at 11 p.m. PST. Not good.' They continued, 'It looks like the woman 'jumped' from the balcony of her 8th floor room after an argument with her partner. This is our 15th cruise, and the first time we've actually experienced this. Clearly, the priority is recovering the woman. And the boat has turned around and is at a dead stop. They have deployed boats for the search. Could be a long night..." Despite the immediate efforts of the ship's crew and support from nearby vessels, the search for Burch was called off. Neither Taime Downe nor his representatives have released a statement regarding the incident. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Burch's fall continues, with authorities examining reports of an argument between the couple prior to the tragedy.
