B.C. man says $500K lottery win ‘feels the same as how I felt when I caught this big trout'
Lottery winner Bill Cash is seen in this image handed out by the BCLC.
The vast majority of people will never know what it's like to win the lottery, but a recent B.C. winner says it's comparable to a far more common experience.
A Prince George resident—fittingly named Bill Cash—netted a $500,000 Extra prize from the May 9 Lotto Max draw.
When the B.C. Lottery Corporation asked what it felt like to win, Cash had this to say:
'It feels the same as how I felt when I caught this big trout the other day.'
Cash reeled in the winning ticket while stopping for gas at Four Rivers Co-Op on Westgate Avenue, according to the BCLC.
He first shared the news with his daughter.
'She said I was full of it,' he remembers.
Cash plans to put some of his windfall toward an investment portfolio, and is looking into buying a classic 1957 convertible.
According to the BCLC, lottery players in the province have redeemed more than $18 million from the Extra and $102 million from Lotto Max so far in 2025.
The odds of winning the top Lotto Max Extra prize are approximately one in 3.7 million.
