The McLaren Racing Formula One team had Hollywood star Brad Pitt drive the 2023 MCL60 F1 car in a private test with Lando Norris at the Circuit of the Americas. This comes a few days after the premiere of the F1 movie in New York, which stars Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a veteran driver who makes his way back into the sport to mentor a young driver in an underdog team, played by Damson Idris. While early reviews from critics have been released, fans will have to wait until the movie is released on June 25 (June 27 for North America). Co-produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Joseph Kosinski, famous for his work on 'Top Gun: Maverick,' a strong emphasis has been placed on ensuring the movie stays true to real-world F1 racing. McLaren confirmed that the private test had taken place, but further details were kept under wraps. McLaren even teased Pitt's track outing on X with the caption, "It's a Sonny day in Austin 👀." Also noteworthy were the letters BP on the race overalls that stand for Brad Pitt. Pitt, who was at F1's premiere at Times Square, told Sky Sports F1 about his soft spot for racing movies. He said: "Can you believe they even let us in? It's insane. "Let us in the world. Let us in race weekends. Let us in to embed ourselves into the season. I've just never heard of anything like it. Especially this sport, it's so revered. It's really special. "We just drew from history. A little this, a little that and that we had Lewis Hamilton keep us straight off and running. "I love this movie. I think it wins on so many levels and I love sports movies. I love racing movies, when they work, and I think we're there." Brad Pitt Broke His Silence on His Divorce From Angelina Jolie & Majorly Downplayed Their Legal Battles
In September 2016, Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from her ex-husband Brad Pitt. And while some divorces take longer than others to finalize, Pitt and Jolie only settled their legal battle in December 2024, more than eight years later. Looking back at the experience now, however, it seems the whole situation was no big deal for Pitt. In a new interview with GQ, he was asked about life after their divorce was finalized. 'Is there relief?' asked journalist Daniel Riley. More from SheKnows Hopeful Fans Are Theorizing Angelina Jolie's New Hair Color May Have to Do With Returning to This Role 'No, I don't think it was that major of a thing,' Pitt, who's starring in the upcoming racing movie F1, said. 'Just something coming to fruition. Legally.' He then continued to play it cool when asked about his first public event with his girlfriend, Ines de Ramon. Their first outing took place at the F1 Grand Prix of Great Britain at Silverstone Circuit on July 7, 2024. When asked if the outing was intentional to bring attention to his movie, Pitt reportedly chuckled. 'No, dude, it's not that calculated,' the Fight Club star said. 'If you're living [like that], oh my God, how exhausting would that be? If you're living with making those kinds of calculations?' 'No, life just evolves,' he said. 'Relationships evolve.' Previously, Jolie, who shares six kids with Pitt, has been honest about the mental toll their legal battle had taken. After all, not only was their divorce a breakup after years together, but it also brought about the 2016 incident when Pitt allegedly became verbally and physically abusive with his children aboard a private jet. 'I wasn't myself for a while, so I wasn't able to give as much to my work for a few years,' the Oscar winner said in an interview with Vanity Fair in December 2024. 'I went very dark for reasons I'd rather not explain, but I didn't have a lot of light and life within me,' she admitted. 'Your light's dim.' 'I also just needed to be home more, so I couldn't commit large periods of time to pieces,' she said, explaining why it took her years to take on roles like opera singer Maria Callas in Maria. 'The choice of what to work on and when was not a creative choice, often, the last few years, but sometimes the practical choice. Really, I think Maria was the beginning of starting to come alive again. I needed a lot of kind people around me to hold my hand.' Overall, it seems Jolie has no intention of sugar-coating how tough their divorce really was. Pitt, on the other hand, is readily moving on.
