F2P Friday: Razzopolis
Welcome to this week's installment of F2P Friday, where we highlight our favorite Free-2-Play games. The video game market is oversaturated, and sometimes, hidden gems fall through the cracks. This is where we dig for you and feature a new F2P game we know you will enjoy every week. This month, we celebrate Pride with LGBTQ+-focused and inclusive games featured every week in June. Today, we rise in the City of Razzopolis between worlds in this story-driven visual novel. RELATED: Check out our F2P Friday archives Razzopolis Eve awakens in a void between worlds with a patchwork of memories of her old life, unsure if she is alive or dreaming. Razzopolis is the city of the awakened, those who made it beyond the dreamscape and reshaped their lives. Rival gangs are ruining the town and magic is everywhere, making this a difficult time to wake up in The Bank. Can you trust the vapid smoke broker or skeleton mayoral figure who collected you? Or is the real question, who can you trust in this surreal world if you can't trust your own mind? The Basics Let's get down to the basics of Razzopolis by creator Zoe Maxine. This is an early access demo for Razzopolis, a fantasy decopunk visual novel. It is an investigative text chat adventure about being stuck in a 1920s-esque world of magic, monsters and hats that talk to you. Because it is so early access, not all of the planned features function yet, such as the music and sound components. Keep an eye out for future updates as the game develops. RELATED: May's Most Anticipated Video Games The gameplay is accessible only through dialogue choices and the content could be considered mature with the complex storytelling style. The game deals with themes of anxiety, depression and isolation with the memory loss aspects set over a surreal, spooky backdrop. There are some discoverable objects as you play, but they result in more dialogue options. You can read and ask the questions at your own pace in whichever order you like with no consequence. Why Should I Play? So why should you play Razzopolis? I would suggest this game to anyone who is looking for a narrative game with a high-interest writing style and heavy world-building elements. Because it is playable in a browser and the gameplay consists of dialogue options and point-and-click exploration, it is accessible to anyone. Some themes are more suited for older gamers, but it is not a horror game. Think you can navigate the surreal streets of Razzopolis as a newly awakened? F2P Friday: Midnight Snack
Welcome to this week's installment of F2P Friday, where we highlight our favorite Free-to-Play games. The video game market is oversaturated, and sometimes, hidden gems fall through the cracks. This is where we dig for you and feature a new F2P game we know you will enjoy every week. This week, we wake up wanting a little something to eat, but end up running for our lives in a surreal nightmare while playing Midnight Snack . CONTENT WARNING: Midnight Snack is a horror game featuring a suspenseful environment with depictions of blood and gore. RELATED: Check out our F2P Friday archives Midnight Snack The game takes place in the protagonist's recurring nightmare. In this nightmare, the protagonist wakes up hungry in the middle of the night and views the world from a microwave perspective. Before reaching the kitchen, he must navigate through a dark and eerie setting, even being attacked within the dream manifestations of his guilt. Finally, upon reaching the kitchen and opening the microwave on the table, he will find an unpleasant surprise. The Basics Let's get down to the basics of Midnight Snack by Desborde Games. Midnight Snack is an adventure-strategy game with one of the most unique movement mechanics I have ever seen. The controls are integrated into the interface itself, modeled after the dials of a retro-style microwave. The bottom dial controls the camera direction, while the top dial determines how long the player moves. Once the time has been set, the controls are locked until the top dial stops turning, so be careful. A mouse is required to interact with the dials as they need a click and drag motion to operate them, similar to an old rotary telephone. RELATED: May's Most Anticipated Video Games The monster that stalks you is an unseen but real threat on your heels. Navigating tight corners and judging how much distance you need to cover is critical to staying alive. Once you set a time on the dial, you can no longer adjust the camera direction as you move, so move with accuracy and speed. Why Should I Play? So why should you play Midnight Snack ? This fast, surreal horror game is a treat with its retro style and unique moment mechanic. My favorite sections were the hallways with their tight corners that raised the suspense level, but the forest sections are the largest areas of the game. I would love to see it expanded into a longer experience, as the 15-20 minute playtime goes by too quickly. Ready to make yourself a little late-night bite and run for your life? You can play Midnight Snack for free with Steam now and watch the trailer below for a better look at the interface. F2P Friday: THE SECOND SIGHT

F2P Friday: THE SECOND SIGHT
Welcome to this week's installment of F2P Friday, where we highlight our favorite Free-to-Play games. The video game market is oversaturated, and sometimes, hidden gems fall through the cracks. This is where we dig for you and feature a new F2P game we know you will enjoy every week. This week, we explore the mysterious, rural backwoods of the fictitious Port Gillain in a modern narrative adventure game titled The Second Sight . CONTENT WARNING: This story contains sexually suggestive material, violence, talk of abductions and abuse, and mature language that may be disturbing to some people. RELATED: Check out our F2P Friday archives The Second Sight You're an urban legend in a small town full of weird happenings. Found alone when you were thirteen, you were found passed out on the road by a local cop who became your father figure. No missing persons report. No fingerprints on file. No memories. Just a name. Oh, and some bizarre psychic powers. You're content with simplicity. You like your isolated cabin and helping Carter, the man who found you, track down missing persons. You know that in theory, there are more people like you out there, but you've never wanted to look behind the curtain to find out. However, with the disappearance of a local teen named Casey Powell and a recent attempt on your foster father's life, your serene, isolated life comes abruptly to an end and a new chapter begins. RELATED: Love mobile video games? Check out Mobile Game Monday for your next pick… The Basics Let's get down to the basics of The Second Sight by creator spoiledsweet. At the core, The Second Sight is an interactive narrative fiction game with an urban fantasy setting. Prepare yourself to grapple with the unknown and step into the shoes of (Val), a psychic whose strange powers have always separated them from others. Those same powers will drag you down the rabbit hole and into a world that is both familiar and foreign to everything you know. A world filled with magic, witches, fae, demons, and the unknown. The controls for this are as simple as clicking options that allow you to immerse yourself in the story by customizing your protagonist's general appearance, choosing how they interact with others and whether you lean on logic or intuition to problem solve. You can check your stats and choices in the menu on the side to see how the dialogue choices affect your file. While you can play this game in the browser, the size formatting isn't recommended for mobile play. RELATED: May's Most Anticipated Video Games Why Should I Play? So why should you play The Second Sight ? Narrative-adventure games like this live or die on the quality of the writing and the writing for The Second Sight is phenomenal. Creator spoiledsweet does a fantastic job of worldbuilding, creating tension and providing impactful choices that make the story feel unique to each playthrough. The flexible, customizable nature of the story means there isn't much art in the game, making it more like an electronic choose-your-own-adventure novel, but I didn't miss it much. As of the writing of this article, there are 7 chapters available with frequent updates from the author and promises of more to come. F2P Friday: FINDING FATHER
