Bahrain hosts FIBA Mid-Term Congress, Hall of Fame Ceremony, and Cup Final
Bahrain hosted a series of major international basketball events this week, including the FIBA Mid-Term Congress, the Hall of Fame Ceremony, and the Khalifa bin Salman Cup Final.
Leading the global basketball delegation was FIBA President Shaikh Saud bin Ali Al Thani, accompanied by senior officials Jorge Joaquin and Hamane Niang. The delegation was received at Bahrain International Airport by Faris Mustafa Al Kooheji, Secretary-General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, who conveyed a message of pride and support from His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
'These events reflect Bahrain's readiness to contribute to the development and future of international basketball,' said Al Kooheji. Shaikh Saud expressed appreciation for Bahrain's hospitality and commended the efforts of the national basketball federation in organising the events.
The week concluded with a full stadium for the Cup Final and the celebration of basketball legends during the Hall of Fame Ceremony — marking a significant moment for the sport in Bahrain and underlining the kingdom's growing role on the international stage.
