Carlo Ancelotti Confirmed as the New Brazil Coach
Carlo Ancelotti is set to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season and join Brazil after spending four years at the Spanish capital. The legendary Italian coach has established himself as Real Madrid's most decorated coach, winning 15 trophies across two spells at the club. During his seven years with the Los Blancos, the 65-year-old won five UEFA Champions League titles – the most by any manager – and three FIFA Club World Cups. He is also the only manager to have won the domestic league in each of Europe's top five major leagues. Carlo Ancelotti will join the Brazilian national team on May 26 and stands to become the first foreign manager to lead the national team. He will be trusted to lead Brazil to victory at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will take place in the US, Canada, and Mexico. The last cup they won was back in 2002 in South Korea and Japan. The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) wanted an experienced, high-profile coach to manage their talented squad. With a proven track record at Europe's top clubs, Ancelotti offers tactical flexibility and the ability to handle a lineup of football superstars. His experience in high-pressure situations and calm leadership make him the ideal choice for Brazil. While Ancelotti still had a year left on his contract, Real Madrid decided to part ways after a trophyless 2024/25 season, in which the squad failed to win La Liga or the Champions League and lost in 4 consecutive El Clásicos for the first time since 2009. His exit will allow Madrid to bring in Xabi Alonso for a fresh start. The former Real Madrid player is expected to take over the club at the end of the season and will be prepping to lead his club during the FIFA Club World Cup. His success at Bayer Leverkusen, where he led them to an unbeaten Bundesliga title last season for the first time in their history, proves his ability to manage at the highest level.
