Watch: Oklahoma wind turbine mysteriously collapses on clear, windless day

A wind turbine mysteriously collapsed Tuesday morning in northern Oklahoma, leaving debris scattered across a field. Firefighters responded to a call around 7:20 a.m. Tuesday about a downed wind turbine on a private farm east of Kildare, a small town in Kay County that is about 115 miles north of Oklahoma City, news outlets report. Kildare fire chief Travis Harris told community news website Kay NewsCow that the residents at least four miles away reported hearing the sound early Tuesday. Officials told FOX25 that the cause of the incident is not yet known. No injuries or fires were reported. Some pics from this mornings call of collapsed east and north of Kildare. Posted by Kildare Fire Department on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 Kildare Fire Department officials told Oklahoma City TV station KOCO that the collapse was "bizarre" because it wasn't a windy day. Pictures posted to the fire department's social media page show the collapsed wind turbine in several pieces scattered across the field. It's unclear which company may have operated this specific turbine. However, the U.S. Wind Turbine Database, which is a map of turbines that's continually updated by several government agencies, shows that most, if not all, turbines northeast of Kildare are part of Duke Energy Renewables' Frontier II project, which were manufactured by Nordex and brought online in 2021. Oklahoma health officials monitoring tuberculosis cases amid Kansas outbreak: What to know

Oklahoma health officials are looking into a tuberculosis outbreak after Kansas officials experienced an 'unprecedented' outbreak. According to a release from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, public health officials reported 66 active cases and 79 latent infections in the Kansas City metro area, as of Jan. 17. In neighboring Oklahoma, officials are watching for any spikes in cases. "At this time there is no evidence to suggest that the Kansas TB outbreak has directly affected Oklahoma residents, however, we are continuing to monitor the situation," a spokesperson for the agency told FOX25. So far this year, Oklahoma has only reported four cases to the CDC and the state sees roughly 60 tuberculosis cases annually, according to CDC reports. According to the CDC, TB symptoms depend on where the TB germs are growing in the body. Some symptoms of TB in the lungs include: Bad cough for three weeks or longer Pain in the chest Coughing up blood or phlegm from deep inside the lungs Other symptoms regardless of area include: Weakness or fatigue Weight loss No appetite Chills Fever Sweating at night This article originally appeared on Oklahoman: Oklahoma health officials monitor TB cases amid Kansas outbreak
