Trump says US will not allow Iran to enrich 'any' uranium under nuclear deal

US President Donald Trump said Monday Iran would not enrich uranium under any potential nuclear deal. Since April, Tehran and Washington have held five rounds of talks to replace the 2015 pact Trump quit in 2018. A new agreement has yet to be finalised. US President Donald Trump on Monday ruled out allowing Iran to enrich uranium under any nuclear deal between the foes -- as Tehran defended what it said was its "peaceful" pursuit of fuel for power generation. Uranium enrichment has remained a key point of contention in five rounds of talks since April to ink a new accord to replace the deal with major powers that Trump abandoned during his first term in 2018. "Under our potential Agreement -- WE WILL NOT ALLOW ANY ENRICHMENT OF URANIUM!" Trump said on his Truth Social network, after the Axios news outlet said Washington's offer would let Tehran enrich some of the nuclear fuel. Republican Trump also blamed predecessor Joe Biden for the current situation, saying that the Democrat "should have stopped Iran a long time ago from 'enriching.'" Axios said the latest proposal that Washington had sent Tehran on Saturday would allow limited low-level uranium enrichment on Iranian soil, for an amount of time that has yet to be determined. Iran has insisted that Iran has "nothing to hide" on its nuclear program. The IAEA report showed that Iran has ramped up production of uranium enriched up to 60 percent -- close to the roughly 90 percent level needed for atomic weapons. French Open Day 2: Title defenders Swiatek and Alcaraz both open strong

Defending champions Iga Swiatek and Carlos Alcaraz both opened their French Open campaigns with commanding wins, cruising to straight-set victories on Roland Garros' iconic red clay courts. 'It was really, really solid,' Alcaraz said about his opening performance. "Really proud about my start." Iga Swiatek, who has struggled lately, and Carlos Alcaraz, who has not, got off to good starts in their French Open title defences Monday, recording straight-set victories to reach the second round. Swiatek was up first in Court Philippe-Chatrier and defeated 42nd-ranked Rebecca Sramkova 6-3, 6-3. Swiatek compiled 25 winners and 17 unforced errors in the 1-hour, 24-minute contest. Alcaraz needed only about a half-hour more than that for a 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 win over Giulio Zeppieri, an Italian qualifier who is ranked 310th. Alcaraz won all 14 of his service games, saving the three break points he faced, at Court Suzanne-Lenglen. 'It was really, really solid,' Alcaraz said. 'Really proud about my start.' Alcaraz is seeded No. 2 behind Jannik Sinner — who was scheduled to play Monday night — and is coming off a clay-court title at the Italian Open a little more than a week ago. Alcaraz beat Sinner in the final there. Cannes 2025: Gaza casts shadow over festival, but films celebrate Palestinian resilience

With war still raging in Gaza, Palestinian filmmakers are in no mood to celebrate their strongest Cannes showing in years. But the movies screened at the world's leading film festival, including brothers Tarzan and Arab Nasser's "Once Upon a Time in Gaza", are powerful odes to resilience. A first national pavilion in years and a pair of films with glowing reviews would normally be cause for celebration in Cannes. But at the tent housing the Palestine pavilion, a short walk from Cannes' Palais des Festivals, no one has come to the glitzy French Riviera gathering for the revelry. "We're clearly not here for the Cannes party," says film producer Rashid Abdelhamid, his voice drowned out by the ruckus of a cocktail event at the adjacent American Pavilion. "But we're doing our own celebrations – of life and resilience," adds the producer of festival hit "One Upon a Time in Gaza", which premiered to rapturous applause earlier this week. "We want to show that we're here, that we're alive, that we want to live and dance like everyone else," he adds. "And that we're staying where we are." Gaza-born twin brothers Arab and Tarzan Nasser came up with the idea for "Once Upon a Time in Gaza" well before the start of the ongoing war that has wiped out most of their homeland – and made the title to their film eerily timely. The Nasser brothers, who left Gaza in 2011 and shoot their movies in Jordan, describe their latest feature as "archival material" documenting a place that no longer exists. Two employees of Israeli embassy shot and killed in Washington, DC

A man and woman working for the Israeli embassy were shot and killed Wednesday evening as they were leaving an event at the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, DC. The shooter is in custody. Two staff members of the Israeli embassy were shot and killed Wednesday evening while leaving an event at a Jewish museum in the nation's capital, and the suspect yelled, 'Free, free Palestine' after he was arrested, police said. The two victims, a man and a woman, were leaving an event at the Capital Jewish Museum when the suspect approached a group of four people and opened fire, Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela Smith said at a news conference. The suspect, identified as Elias Rodriguez, 30, of Chicago, was observed pacing outside the museum before the shooting, walked into the museum after the shooting and was detained by event security, Smith said. When he was taken into custody, the suspect began chanting, 'Free, free Palestine,' Smith said. Smith said law enforcement did not believe there was an ongoing threat to the community. Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Yechiel Leiter said the two people killed were a young couple about to be engaged, saying the man had purchased a ring this week with the intent to propose next week in Jerusalem. Attorney General Pam Bondi said she was at the scene with former judge Jeanine Pirro, who serves as the U.S. attorney in Washington and whose office would prosecute the case. Israeli President Isaac Herzog said he was 'devastated' by the scenes in Washington. Trump touts 'most successful first 100 days' in US history at Michigan rally

At a rally in Michigan, US President Donald Trump on Tuesday celebrated his first 100 days in office by touting what he called a series of major economic wins and forcefully attacked Democrats, as polling showed Americans were growing more sceptical of his hardline approaches on trade and immigration. Donald Trump promised Tuesday that he is just getting started as he marked the radical and vengeful beginning of a presidency that has shaken the world and destabilized the United States. Basking in the adulation of cheering supporters in Michigan, the 78-year-old touted the "most successful first 100 days of any administration in the history of our country", even as polls show Americans becoming disenchanted with the economic and political tumult. Trump said he missed the campaign trail, and launched with visible relish into a speech that often sounded more like that of a candidate than a head of state. Joe Biden is "sleepy" the media is "fake", judges who oppose him are "communist", Democratic opponents are "radical left," and friendly countries have "abused us more so than foe on trade", Trump said, listing targets of his ire.
