Colin Cowherd signs Nick Wright's podcast away from Fox Sports: Sources
In the continuing trend of top sports media personalities creating their own podcast-centric companies that compete with major networks, Colin Cowherd has signed Nick Wright to bring his podcast from Fox Sports to Cowherd's The Volume, sources briefed on the move said Wednesday.
What is particularly interesting about this move is Cowherd and Wright are the two biggest draws on Fox Sports' cable channel, FS1. Both will continue to do their weekday FS1 shows on TV.

Wright, who has grown in reach with his takes and fervent support of his hometown Kansas City Chiefs, will continue doing his thrice-weekly show 'What's Wright? With Nick Wright.' The show is a family affair as he hosts it with his son, Damonza, but plans to have his wife, Danielle, and two daughters on the program, too. Wright amassed nearly 720,000 views on his YouTube channel after 36 hours for his reaction to the blockbuster NBA trade that sent Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers and Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks.
In 2021, Cowherd launched The Volume following the success of media personalities, notably Bill Simmons and Dave Portnoy, who have used their brands to create larger media companies. Simmons (The Ringer) and Portnoy (Barstool Sports) sold their companies for hundreds of millions. Portnoy regained ownership with Penn National for $1 after Penn partnered with ESPN for sports gambling.
Cowherd's success seems modeled after Simmons and Portnoy as he has used his popularity to help gain more traction with the likes of Shannon Sharpe, an FS1-turned-ESPN personality, NBA star and podcaster Draymond Green and 'FantasyPros,' a fantasy football podcast.
