Missing boy's remains found in Mohangarh

Jaisalmer: Tension gripped Jaisalmer's Mohangarh police station area Monday after remains of a child's body were found. Mohangarh police arrived at the scene and summoned the forensic team. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The remains were quite old and scattered, suggesting that the body was eaten by animals. The police are carrying out a detailed investigation into the incident. From the clothes found at the site, the body was identified as that of 8-year-old Suraj Meghwal, son of Gumanaram, who disappeared from home 11 days ago. The family identified the body. The remains have been sent for FSL analysis and DNA testing. The medical board will conduct a post-mortem before the remains are handed over to the family. Mohangarh station officer Nathu Singh stated that Gumanaram Meghwal's son, a resident of Mandha village, went missing on the morning of May 23 while playing outside his maternal grandparents' home in Mohangarh. Despite extensive search, the child was not found, and a missing person report was filed at Mohangarh police station on May 24. The family informed the police that the child was mentally challenged and could neither speak nor hear. The police registered a missing person case and began an active search. The SHO reported that Monday afternoon, information was received about the discovery of the child's skeletal remains, along with clothes, in the forest three kilometres from Mohangarh. Officer Nathu Singh and his team proceeded to the site and took possession of the child's clothes and scattered remains, which appeared to have been bitten by animals. Suspecting the remains and clothes to be those of the missing 8-year-old, the family was called to the spot, where they identified Suraj. The police have stated that the FSL team will conduct DNA testing, and a post-mortem will be performed by the medical board before handing over the remains to the family.

Delhi Man Strangles Wife To Death Over Suspected Affair With Brother

New Delhi: A 38-year-old man allegedly strangled his wife to death at their residence in outer north Delhi's Bawana area after suspecting her of having an affair with his younger brother, an official said on Monday. Beerpal was arrested on June 1 after he allegedly murdered his wife, Phoolwati (32) by strangling her with a black scarf at their residence. "A PCR call was received on Sunday evening at the Bawana police station, reporting that a woman had been killed by her husband and was lying dead inside the bathroom of their house. The caller further stated that there were no visible injuries on the body," a senior police officer said. The police soon reached the house and entered the first-floor room of the house, where they found the woman lying unresponsive with her head inside the bathroom and her feet extending outside. "A black scarf was found tightly tied around the woman's neck. There were no external injury marks visible," the officer said, adding that the body was identified by the couple's daughter, Kiran. Crime and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) teams were called to inspect the scene and collect evidence. During interrogation, Beerpal confessed that the motive behind the murder was Phoolwati's alleged extramarital relationship with his younger brother Amit. Beerpal, who works in a factory in Sector-1 DSIIDC Bawana, was arrested and a case under Section 103(1) (punishment of murder) BNS was registered. Further investigation is underway, the police said.

DNA Test Nails Man Who Raped Niece

New Delhi: A DNA test helped solve the of a 15-year-old girl in north Delhi's Timarpur. Her uncle was arrested after his DNA matched that of the baby born to the survivor. The girl, who was mentally challenged, was unable to identify her assailant despite counselling. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now With no other leads, police collected DNA samples from seven people, including neighbours and family members. The results confirmed the uncle, who lived nearby, as the perpetrator. Police said that on Jan 14, they received information from a hospital about the pregnancy of a mentally challenged and physically paralysed girl. The survivor, who used to live with her father and grandmother, couldn't share any details, and her family members also claimed to be unaware of the pregnancy. A rape case was registered under relevant sections, including Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. DCP (north) Raja Banthia formed a team to investigate the matter. The inquiry revealed that the girl was pregnant for nearly seven months and was also suffering from heart-related issues. "Neither the girl nor her family provided any information about the incident. On Jan 17, she was referred to another hospital under police protection, where she gave birth to a male child in Feb and was discharged in March," an officer said. Police said they suspected the family's involvement and didn't return the girl's custody to them. She was sent to a children's home while the infant was handed over to an NGO. Counselling sessions were conducted regularly—once every three days during the first month—at hospitals and with private counsellors to provide continuous psychological support. "The survivor's statement was recorded in Feb at the hospital and later in March through audio-visual means. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now In both statements, she did not name any accused," police said. The cops finally zeroed in on seven suspects, including family members, neighbours and others who either lived with her or visited her home. Blood samples were collected and sent to FSL Rohini for DNA profiling, along with that of the baby, in Feb and March. Senior officers followed up regularly to expedite the forensic results. A few days ago, the FSL result was received, which confirmed that the DNA of one of the suspects—her 29-year-old uncle—matched the blood sample of the survivor's child. The police team immediately went to the accused's residence and arrested him. Police said the uncle confessed that he used to drink with the survivor's father at the latter's house and, in a drunken state, sexually assaulted the girl twice a few months ago.

Aligarh mob attack: Police say cow slaughter section to go but won't quash FIR against 4 victims

The FIR registered against the four men who were brutally assaulted by a mob in Aligarh last week will not be quashed even as the sections of cow slaughter will be removed from it, police on Friday said. This comes two days after the police, citing a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report, confirmed that the four men were transporting buffalo meat in a truck, and not cow meat as was alleged. Aqeel (26), Arbaaz (27), Qadeem (28) and Aqil (28) were attacked by a large number of people on May 24 with rods, sticks and other objects at Alahdadpur village. Their vehicle, which was on its way from a meat factory at Roravar, was also overturned and set on fire. Also, the four men will not be arrested, the police added. Aligarh Superintendent of Police (Rural) Amrit Jain told The Indian Express, 'The provisions related to cow slaughter will be removed since the FSL report confirmed that it was buffalo meat. But if we find other lacunae in meat transportation, permission or under the Cruelty to Animals Act, the relevant sections will be added to the FIR.' The four were rushed to the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital in Meerut in critical condition. They are still undergoing treatment. Following the incident, the police had registered an FIR against 13 named and 25 unnamed persons on the basis of a complaint by Salim Khan, father of Aqil under various sections, including 309 (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The FIR against the four was filed on a complaint of Vijay Bajrangi, who along with Bhanu Pratap, Vijay Kumar and Lovekush was later arrested for the assault. SP Jain said they are conducting a detailed investigation into the matter. Harduaganj Station House Officer (SHO) Dheeraj Yadav said, 'We identified and arrested four accused. The investigation is ongoing and more people involved will be identified soon.' Salim Khan, 50, a garment vendor, told The Indian Express, 'Our children were not doing anything illegal. My son suffered severe injuries on his head. He has 58 stitches on his head. He did not deserve this.' 'We had all the documents. We have been into this business for the last five years. We had the papers from the factory too. That day, these 12 to 13 men stopped my nephew and alleged that it was cow meat and pulled him out of the vehicle,' said Mohammad Salim, 52, maternal uncle of Aqil. 'The crowd swelled from around a dozen men to 400. Had the police not arrived they would have killed our children,' he said. Recalling the incident, Salim said the vehicle left at 7 am from the factory. 'All of them have a shop at Atrauli. They make Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 a day. Just after 30 minutes they left, a mob gathered around the vehicle and started demanding Rs 50,000. But our boys did not have any money.' 'All we want is justice. All four of them are battling for life. There is not a single place on their body that has not been injured. The wounds may eventually go but the scars will remain forever,' he said.
