WATCH: Juvenile white shark spotted swimming near Pinellas County
TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. (WFLA) — FWC Fish and Wildlife Research Institute captured video of a 7½-foot juvenile white shark Wednesday about 50 miles offshore near Tarpon Springs.
In a post on social media, FWC said the shark, believed to be around 13 years old, was spotted while conducting video surveillance for the Gulf Fishery Independent Survey of Habitat and Ecosystem Resources (G-FISHER). This uses underwater remote video that is stereo-baited to capture a full 360-degree recording of reef fish and nearby aquatic life.
The video shows the shark swimming aimlessly, at its leisure as it cuts through the water with its fins.
