I tried 5 buys to get rid of my strawberry legs this summer, one was agonising and even turned me & my bath orange

A LEG UP I tried 5 buys to get rid of my strawberry legs this summer, one was agonising and even turned me & my bath orange WHATEVER your views on body hair may be, the majority of women try to remove it. In fact around 90% of women in the UK shave their legs, and as I'm too much of a wimp for waxing, I'm one of them. 7 Leanne Hall tried five ways to get rid of strawberry legs this summer Credit: Supplied 7 One buy left her and her bathtub orange Credit: Leanne Hall But sensitive skin and shaving twice a week don't go well together and often I end up with strawberry legs I want to cover up anyway. It's an issue many people face and occurs when your hair follicles or pores are clogged with dirt, dead skin, bacteria or oil, which typically happens with shaving. But as we are set for a hot summer this year, I would like to get my legs out as much as possible. So I put five products to the test to see what would get rid of them so I can finally wear a skirt in confidence this summer. Venus Satin Care Women's Shaving Gel Sensitive Shaving Gel, £2 While most people swear by shaving foams for a smooth shave, I always find them to make my sensitive skin dry and itchy. Unfortunately, Venus' Satin Care shaving foam for sensitive skin, which is currently £2 was no different. While it did make shaving that bit more fun with all the foam, as soon as my legs were dry I wanted to scratch them and notice the dreaded red dots immediately. Rating 2/5 7 The shaving foam left my legs itchy and red Credit: Leanne Hall Fab Daily tests out the new face shaving product made popular on TikTok Veet Expert Miraculous Oil, £5.99 Like shaving foams, I find a lot of shaving oils have the opposite effect for my skin and tend to cause a reaction. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I didn't get the same reaction from the Veet Miraculous Oil. It was super moisturising and gave me a smooth shave, however, not as close to the skin as usual. I also used this after the shower and found it calmed down any red skin trying to make an appearance. Rating 3/5 7 The oil helped soothe my skin but didn't give a close enough shave Credit: Leanne Hall Estrid Pre-Shave Treatment, £7.95 I tend to roll my eyes at the thought of a scrub actually exfoliating my legs, but I was pleasantly surprised with Estrid's Pre-shave Treatment. It had a light lather to it, and the beads worked well enough to get rid of any dead skin, making for a smooth shave. I stepped out of the shower and moisturised like I usually do and was happy to report I had no itching or red skin. Even the next day, my skin looked smooth, and there was no sight of strawberry skin. My only issue with the product is that it costs £7.95, which is pretty pricey considering how regularly I'd use it. Rating 4/5 7 Estrid's exfoliating scrub was easy to use and prevent red bumps Credit: Leanne Hall Fabulous' £10 Fake Tan Test FINDING the perfect fake tan isn't easy. I'm impressed with the results, but now my entire room stinks of the stuff. If you're on a budget and want a tan for last-minute plans, I would say this is one to try. " bBold Dream Mousse Tan in Dark - £9.50 - Buy Now Tester: Josie O'Brien, Senior Fabulous Digital Writer Review: "The first thing that hit me about this tan was the 'juicy watermelon' scent - it's delicious. I was left with a natural bronze hue rather than orange glow. My only qualm is that the tan seemed to stick to my dry patches and accentuated 'strawberry skin' on my legs. I'm still adding this tan to my arsenal though - the smell, colour and texture are dreamy." St Moriz Professional Medium Tanning Mousse - £4.99 - Buy Now Tester: Kate Kulniece, Fabulous Writer Review: "Not only does St. Moriz mousse leave you with a gorgeous bronzed glow, but it also smells fabulous - think Piña Colada on a sunny beach. At first, I was a little bit sceptical cause I'm a gradual fake tan girlie, but this quick developing St. Moriz number may change it all." Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs Instant Tan Spray, £12.59 If you grew up in the 90s or early 2000s like me, then you know all about Sally Hansen's Airbrush Legs. It's essentially make-up for your body to cover up bruises and give skin a natural tone. I figured if I couldn't perfect the shaving routine, at least I could cover the strawberry skin, right? Well, I couldn't be more wrong. I estimated it might be messy to apply so did so in the bath, and once it was on my legs I was horrified to see it was fluorescent orange and had stained my bath. Even after it had been rubbed in, the shade did not get better and I found it stung like a b**tch despite it being applied hours after shaving. Rating 1/5 7 The body makeup left my skin stinging and orange Credit: Leanne Hall Bulldog Skincare Sensitive After Shave Balm, £5.49 My last try was a little rogue as it was technically a men's product for facial hair. However, I figured if the Bulldog Sensitive Aftershave Balm worked for the most sensitive skin on our body then it had to be good for the legs too And I'm pleased to report that my intuition was right. I went on with my usual shaving routine with shower gel and an African net and towel dried my legs before applying the aftershave to my legs. Not only did my legs feel super soft, there was no strawberry skin in sight. What made it even better is that it costs £5.49 and you only need a small amount so it while last forever. Rating 5/5
