In a remarkable feat of endurance and creativity, Fahad Al Abri, an Omani environmental advocate, artist and singer, has captured international attention by breaking the Guinness World Record for the fastest 10 kilometres while playing the ukulele.
On February 21, 2025, Al Abri completed the course in an astonishing 47 minutes and 57 seconds, an achievement that has left him both humbled and ecstatic.

'I wrote a song called 'Alard Alyna Amana' (الارض علينا أمانة) to raise environmental awareness,' he explained in an interview following his historic run.
'I realised how our beautiful beaches suffer from plastic waste and behaviours that harm the environment. The song resonated with the local youth, inspiring beach clean-ups and becoming a theme for environmental action.'
Breaking a Guinness World Record is no simple task. The requirements are stringent, and Al Abri faced the challenge head-on.
'The guideline I had to break was set at 55 minutes,' he recounted. 'I was determined to go under that, and I managed to hit 47 minutes.'

'I had to prepare rigorously, and many people noticed my prior marathons where I played my ukulele. That was all part of my training for this record.'
The song he performed during this record-setting run was no coincidence; it was a deliberate choice. 'I believe environmental awareness should be a priority in our education,' he stated emphatically. 'This run was not just about breaking a record; it was about sending a message to inspire the younger generation. If I can do it, they can too—a simple yet powerful idea."

'One of my witnesses was a certified musician, which ensured the musical aspect was accurately recorded,' he said.
