KUWAIT CITY, April 27: The Kuwait Winter Games Club successfully hosted the Kuwait National Figure Skating Championship for Girls. Twenty-seven athletes across various age groups participated in the one-day event at the club's skating hall, showcasing an impressive display of Kuwaiti talent. Following the awards ceremony, Club President Fahid Al-Ajmi expressed his pride in the players' outstanding performances, noting the high level of competition and the enthusiasm that captivated the audience. Official lauds Kuwait ice hockey team's achievement
KUWAIT, April 20, (KUNA): Kuwait's national ice hockey team secured a bronze medal at the Ice Hockey World Championship Division IV in Yerevan, Armenia, on Saturday, marking another milestone in their ongoing achievements, said Fahid Al-Ajmi, president of the Kuwait Winter Games Club, on Sunday. In a statement to KUNA following the team's arrival back home, Al-Ajmi highlighted that Kuwait came close to clinching the title on several occasions. He expressed the team's focus on the upcoming tournament in the third division. Al-Ajmi praised the players for their strong performance throughout the championship, attributing their success to the hard work put in during training camps and the consistent support from the Public Authority for Sport. He reassured that the club would continue to support the players to help them elevate their performance, particularly emphasizing the excellence of the younger athletes. In a similar statement to KUNA, player Mashari Mohammad reflected on the competitive atmosphere at the championship, noting that the experience would motivate the team to achieve even better results in future competitions. The national team's delegation was warmly welcomed by the club's secretary, Meshal Fulaitah, alongside officials from the Public Authority for Sport, including Iman Al-Medhadi and Jumana Assad.

Kuwait ice hockey team gears up for Division Four World Cup in Armenia
KUWAIT CITY, March 11: The President of the Kuwaiti Winter Games Club, Fahid Al-Ajmi, announced that Kuwait's national ice hockey team will compete in the 2025 World Cup (Division IV), set to take place in Armenia from April 13 to 19. The tournament, featuring six teams, will be held under the full supervision of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). Al-Ajmi emphasized the significance of the event, noting that the champion will earn promotion to Division III in the next edition of the World Championship, which is held biennially. He also highlighted that this will be the first time the tournament features six teams, adding to its competitiveness and intensity. According to the official draw, Kuwait will open its campaign against Uzbekistan, followed by matches against Indonesia, host nation Armenia, and Malaysia before concluding the group stage against Iran. Al-Ajmi expressed confidence in the Kuwaiti players, expecting them to deliver strong performances throughout the tournament. In preparation for the competition, the team has been undergoing intensive training at the club's facility under the guidance of German coach Andreas Bartkewicz. Additionally, they will hold a training camp in Bulgaria from March 31 to April 11 before heading directly to Armenia for the tournament. Al-Ajmi highlighted the team's positive momentum, following their impressive showing at the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China, last February. Kuwait secured three victories, with their only loss coming against Kyrgyzstan, a team competing at a higher World Championship level. This strong performance, he believes, is a promising sign for Kuwait's aspirations in the upcoming tournament.

Al-Duaij and Fatima named Kuwait's flag bearers for the Asian Winter Games
HARBIN, China, Feb 6: The 9th Asian Winter Games officially open this evening in Harbin, China, featuring around 1,500 athletes from 34 countries, including Kuwait. The tournament, which runs until February 14, includes various individual and team Winter Olympic events for both men and women. Among the participating nations are six other Arab countries—Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, Jordan, and Lebanon. Notably, some competitions, such as ice hockey and curling, commenced before the official opening due to their extended schedules. The opening ceremony will take place in an indoor arena in Harbin, showcasing performances that highlight friendship, peace, and unity among Asian athletes. The ceremony will conclude with the parade of participating delegations, including Kuwait, which is competing in four events. Fahid Al-Ajmi, director of the Kuwaiti delegation, expressed pride in Kuwait's participation in Asia's premier winter sports event, emphasizing the honor of raising the national flag during the opening ceremony. Al-Ajmi revealed that Kuwait's flag bearers for the ceremony will be ice hockey player Mohammed Al-Duaij and curling team member Fatima Abdul Latif. He also expressed confidence in China's ability to deliver an exceptional opening ceremony and a well-organized tournament. Discussing Kuwait's performance, Al-Ajmi noted that the national ice hockey team secured a crucial victory against Singapore but narrowly lost to Kyrgyzstan in extra time due to a golden goal. Meanwhile, the curling team marked a historic milestone by defeating Mongolia in its first-ever international match, despite facing challenges in subsequent games. He commended the dedication of Kuwaiti athletes, acknowledging the tough competition against seasoned teams from East and Central Asia, where winter sports have a long-established presence.
