Wisma Putra: Malaysians leaving Teheran today

KUALA LUMPUR: Efforts to evacuate Malaysians in Iran amid the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict are being finalised. Wisma Putra, in a statement, said Malaysians who agreed to join the evacuation process will be leaving Teheran today. "The ministry is in close coordination with all relevant missions to ensure a quick, smooth and safe journey of all citizens and their family members to Malaysia. "We look forward to welcoming you home soon," the statement read. On Wednesday, unity government spokesman Datuk Fahmi Fadzi said Malaysians currently in Iran were expected to be evacuated by today following recent air attacks on the country by Israel. Fahmi said necessary arrangements had been made in light of the heightened tensions in the region and that visa preparations for all affected Malaysians had been finalised. Wisma Putra previously urged all Malaysians in Iran to leave the country by any available means, citing the rapidly deteriorating conditions. The ministry said the situation remained highly volatile and could worsen without warning.

Attendance, asset sales at Lima '25 set to exceed previous editions

PUTRAJAYA: The upcoming Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (Lima '25) is expected to see the value of asset sales agreements surpass that of previous years. Government spokesman Datuk Fahmi Fadzi said the matter was conveyed by Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin during the Cabinet meeting today. "The minister informed us that attendance figures are higher than those recorded two years ago. "The value of sales agreements for assets to be signed at this edition of Lima is also expected to exceed that of previous editions," he said during his weekly post-cabinet meeting press briefing. Themed "Today's Progress, Future Achievements", Lima '25 remains one of the largest maritime and aerospace exhibitions in Southeast Asia since its inception in 1991. To date, 10,000 public visitor tickets have been sold, while several international exhibitors, including from China, France, the United Kingdom, Australia and Italy, have already made bookings. For the record, Lima '23, held two years ago, saw the participation of over 600 companies from 30 countries, making it the largest edition in the event's history since it was first introduced in 1991.
