Minister visits FCCI: ‘Serious efforts are being made to resolve issues facing industries'
FAISALABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan, while visiting the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that the government attaches great importance to Faisalabad and serious efforts are being made to resolve the problems faced by the industries of this city. He said that after the success of Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, a new industrial policy will be announced very soon to include Pakistan among the world's 20 largest economies. Rehan Naseem Bharara, President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) said that after the success of Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, it has become imperative that we also build the economy on a stable and sustainable basis. He paid tribute to the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and Chief of the Pakistan Air Force Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Babar Sidhu for the brilliant victory in the fight for justice. He also mentioned the problems faced by the industrial sector and said that the government should create maximum ease of doing business. He also called for the establishment of a passport office in the Faisalabad Chamber for the convenience of members and demanded that the Pindi Bhattian Faisalabad Motorway be made 6-lane. He said that according to the 1934 Act, only petroleum goods come under the definition of DPL, so this provision should not be applied to imported chemicals. He stressed the need to create convenience for traders and reform the taxation system and said that one IT University should be established in Faisalabad as announced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Govt set to unveil new industrial policy
Following the success of the "Banyan Al-Marsous" operation, a new industrial policy aimed at placing Pakistan among the world's top 20 economies will be announced very soon. It was stated by Haroon Akhtar Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, while representing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the 50th Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) on Saturday. He said he brought a message that the government highly values Faisalabad and serious efforts are being made to resolve the issues faced by the industries of this city. Earlier, welcoming Haroon Akhtar Khan, Rehan Naseem Bharadah, President of the FCCI, said that after the success of the Banyan Al-Marsous operation, it has become imperative to stabilise the economy on sustainable foundations. He mentioned the problems faced by the industrial sector and said that the government should create more facilities to ensure ease of doing business. He demanded the establishment of a new modern airport in the nearest area to provide air travel facilities to foreigners working in various industrial estates run under FIEDMC. He also stressed the need for a cargo complex in Faisalabad that would enable the export of 25,000 tons of cargo annually from the city. He called the establishment of a passport office within the Faisalabad Chamber necessary for the convenience of members and demanded that the Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad motorway be expanded to six lanes. He noted that according to the 1934 Act, the definition of DPL (Declared List of Petroleum) only includes petroleum goods, so the clause should not be applied to imported chemicals.

FCCI president demands cut in policy rates, power tariffs
FAISALABAD: Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Rehan Naseem Bharara has demanded immediate reduction in policy rates and electricity tariffs as well as elimination of unnecessary taxes on the construction sector to build the national economy on solid and sustainable foundations. He said that due to the tireless efforts of Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb and their economic team, inflation and other economic indicators are gradually improving. He said that a new monetary policy is being announced the day after tomorrow. He said that a 4% reduction in interest rates is inevitable so that the industrial wheel can be kept moving with easy availability of capital. He said that inflation has reached the lowest rate in history at 0.28%. Thus, further reduction in electricity rates will also increase production, while valuable foreign exchange can also be earned by exporting surplus production. He said that it is being openly acknowledged in government circles that bringing interest rates to single digits and reducing electricity rates is necessary for economic development. He said that industries in Faisalabad were closing down due to high interest rates, while a reduction in interest rates would improve industrial processes and the resumption of closed industries would help increase exports and also create new employment opportunities for the youth. He requested to Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif to bring electricity down to Rs 26 per unit so that the production cost of our exports is reduced and 'Made in Pakistan' products can compete with their trading rivals in global markets. Removal of road obstructions in Sindh demanded
FAISALABAD: All major textile associations in Faisalabad, along with the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI), have raised serious concerns over the ongoing road blockages in Sindh, which are severely disrupting cargo traffic and threatening the export sector. Hazar Khan, Senior Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers & Exporters Association (PHMA) addressing a press conference here Wednesday, said that the road closures due to protests over canal issues have led to the halting of hundreds of containers. This disruption not only delays the timely delivery of products to international markets but also jeopardises the trust of foreign buyers in Pakistani exporters. He further highlighted the challenges faced in receiving raw materials for manufacturing, leading to operational difficulties in industrial units. However, Rehan Naseem Bhara, President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI), emphasised that the blockage of roads is preventing export containers from reaching ports, resulting in delays of up to one to two months. He appealed to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief Minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah to address the issue promptly to prevent further economic damage. Mian Farukh Iqbal, former Chairman PHMA, mentioned that after receiving relief in electricity tariffs, they assured international buyers of the resumption of production processes. However, the current road blockages are hindering exports. He urged the government to resolve the issue swiftly to achieve the 'Uraan' program's target of $60 billion in exports over the next five years. Rana Altaf Ahmed, former Senior Vice Chairman PHMA said this issue must be resolved immediately to avoid having to ship our consignments by air. Syed Zia Alamdar Hussain, former President of the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce added we are not part of any political agenda. Our only concern is political and economic stability. The government must take urgent action to end the road blockages so that the business and trade ecosystem can return to normal. Waheed Khaliq Ramey Chairman Power Looms Owner association said that this issue is not limited to the export sector alone — the local industry is also being severely affected. 'I respectfully urge the President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, whose party has governed Sindh for the past sixteen years, to intervene and resolve this matter promptly.' Mian Kashif Zia, former Chairman PHMA, said that the news of these protests is damaging Pakistan's image internationally. Our buyers are now reluctant to place new orders.
