Florida Wildlife officials give best ways to keep bears from wandering onto property
GULF BREEZE, Fla. (WKRG) — Florida Wildlife officials recognize that residents may see more bears this time of year because most have come out of hibernation.

'Black bears are not generally aggressive, but like any wild animal, if they feel threatened, can become defensive,' Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Northwest Region Public Information Officer Faith Flawn said. 'Dogs have been involved in over half of the incidents of people being injured by bears in Florida.'
In Gulf Breeze, workers have set a trap in the backyard on Joseph Circle, where a man was attacked early Thursday morning. So far, no activity has been reported.
Officials are reminding homeowners not to leave food or open garbage bins overnight as it can attract unwanted visitors.
