Indonesia boosts halal exports amid growing global demand
JAKARTA, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's shipments of halal food reached 41.9 billion U.S. dollars in 2024, Director-General of National Export Development at the Trade Ministry, Fajarini Puntodewi, said on Thursday.
Puntodewi said that halal food products dominated Indonesia's halal exports last year. The ministry would continue efforts to expand international markets for Indonesian halal products.
In addition, fashion, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic products were also major contributors to Indonesia's halal exports. Fashion products exports were recorded at 8.28 billion dollars, followed by pharmaceuticals at 0.73 billion dollars, and cosmetics at 0.43 billion dollars.
