Falcon Group charts future growth with expanded aerospace and industrial capabilities
Falcon Group, a leading UAE-based precision engineering firm, has announced plans to expand its aerospace and industrial capabilities. The company aims to leverage its expertise to enhance the UAE's position in global aerospace supply chains while investing in automation, AI-driven quality control, and sustainable manufacturing processes. The UAE's industrial sector is undergoing a significant transformation, driven by the ambitious 'Make it in the Emirates' initiative. At the heart of this movement are homegrown firms like Falcon Group, which has played a crucial role in advancing local manufacturing capabilities. Most recently, it contributed to the launch of MBZ-SAT, the region's most advanced satellite. "The UAE's vision for space is clear: to be a global leader,' said Rejin Jose Kurian, managing director of Falcon Group. "We are proud to support this vision by providing locally manufactured, high-quality components that are integral to these missions. We don't just want to be part of the UAE's space ambitions; we want to grow alongside it on the global stage." "For us, 'Make it in the Emirates' is more than just a slogan. It is a call to action. We take immense pride in being a UAE-based company that is proving local firms can deliver world-class products that meet international standards," Kurian added. As part of the UAE government's vision to boost domestic manufacturing, there was a strong push to have critical satellite components for the MBZ-SAT project sourced locally. In line with this strategy, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) opened opportunities for national firms to contribute to the country's industrial growth. "MBRSC informed us that these components had to be made in the UAE,' Kurian said. He continued, "If not us, it would have been another company, so we saw this as a significant opportunity to be part of the nation's industrial advancement. We took this responsibility seriously, investing significant resources to satisfy the stringent astronautical standards of the project." Falcon Group became the only UAE-based supplier of aluminium precision-machined components for MBZ-SAT. Notably, for the first time, 90 per cent of the satellite's components were sourced from local suppliers — an achievement that marks a key milestone in the nation's aspirations to become a hub for space manufacturing. Founded over three decades ago, Falcon Group has evolved from a modest machining and fabrication firm into a leading industrial player serving aerospace, oil and gas, defence, and industrial automation sectors. Its growth aligns with the UAE's broader vision of fostering local expertise, reducing reliance on imports, and positioning itself as a global leader in advanced industries. This transition was not instantaneous. It required years of careful development, substantial investment in cutting-edge technology, and continuous upskilling of its workforce. Falcon started by manufacturing smaller clamps and demonstration parts before gradually showcasing its ability to produce full-scale satellite components. The company's rigorous quality checks, including specialised masking and coatings for conductivity, ensured that each part met the demanding standards of the aerospace industry. One key factor behind Falcon's success has been its ability to meet and exceed international aerospace manufacturing standards. "When we started supplying aerospace components, we realised that the level of precision required was significantly higher than in traditional industries,' Kurian explained, adding, 'This led us to adopt AS9100D aerospace standards, which is ten times more stringent than the ISO9001 certification we previously adhered to." However, astronautical components require an even higher level of precision and quality control beyond AS9100D. "This includes specialised handling and storage of materials, the use of specific lifting tools, contamination-free environments, and extensive testing at every production stage. Every aspect of the manufacturing process is optimised to ensure there is zero room for error, as even the smallest defect could compromise a space mission," Kurian said. With local firms stepping up to meet the nation's high-tech manufacturing demands, the Make It in the Emirates initiative is proving to be more than just a policy. It is shaping the country's industrial future.
