Golf club told to try to hit target before it gets any money from town council

Councillors have put grant funding for £750 for Falmouth Golf Club to send its junior section on a trip to Portugal on hold after hearing fundraising had been going very well. At a meeting of Falmouth Town Council's finance and general purposes committee on Monday councillors heard the club was already well on its way to its target of £10,000. It says the tour will not only sharpen their technical skills but also enhance their experience by competing against top junior players from the Algarve at the renowned Vilamoura Golf Academy on the Laguna Course. The club says the experience will contribute to the long-term growth of these young golfers, providing them with exposure to high level competition, advanced training techniques, and the chance to develop as individuals both on and off the course. The club said the money from the council would go towards players costs such as flights, coaching costs, green fees, trolley hire, accommodation, transfers luggage, playing and training uniform.
