BCCI congratulates India's World Cup winning captain Dhoni after his inducted in the ICC Hall of Fame

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India] June 10 (ANI): The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) congratulates India's World Cup winning captain MS Dhoni after his he was inducted in the ICC Hall of Fame during a ceremony at London on Monday, becoming the 11th Indian cricketer to join the illustrious company. The ICC Hall of Fame celebrates the extraordinary achievements of cricketing legends who have shaped the sport's rich and vibrant history. Players are eligible for induction only five years after their final international appearance, as per a release from BCCI. From lifting India's first T20 World Cup in 2007 with a young, untested squad, to guiding the Men in Blue to a historic 2011 ODI World Cup win at home, and adding the Champions Trophy in 2013, Dhoni remains the only captain in cricket history to win all three ICC white-ball trophies. His leadership brought calm to chaos, turning pressure into opportunity and dreams into triumphs. Beyond captaincy, Dhoni redefined the role of a finisher in ODIs. His unbeaten 183* against Sri Lanka in 2005 remains the highest score by a wicketkeeper in the format. With over 10,000 ODI runs at an astonishing average of 50.57, his legacy with the bat is as impactful as it is enduring. Behind the stumps, Dhoni was a phenomenon. His lightning-fast stumpings and razor-sharp anticipation revolutionized wicketkeeping in limited-overs cricket. Much like his captaincy, his unorthodox methods defied convention--but delivered unmatched results. ICC Chairman Jay Shah said: 'Through the ICC Hall of Fame, we pay tribute to the finest players the game has seen--individuals whose remarkable careers have shaped cricket's legacy and inspired generations.' 'This year, we are privileged to induct seven truly outstanding individuals into this prestigious group. On behalf of the ICC, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to each of them and hope they cherish this well-deserved recognition as a defining moment in their cricketing journey.' Reflecting on the honour, MS Dhoni said, 'It is an honour to be named in the ICC Hall of Fame, which recognizes the contributions of cricketers across generations and from all over the world. To have your name remembered alongside such all-time greats is a wonderful feeling--something I will cherish forever.' The ICC Hall of Fame was launched in January 2009 as part of the ICC's centenary celebrations and has since celebrated the greatest players to have graced the game. Alongside Dhoni, Hashim Amla, Matthew Hayden, Graeme Smith, and Daniel Vettori were inducted as part of the ICC Hall of Fame Class of 2025 among male cricketers. (ANI)

A former Lakers player has been elected into the Hall of Fame

A former Lakers player has been elected into the Hall of Fame The Los Angeles Lakers have had more than their fair share of players who have made it to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Most of them spent a substantial amount of time with the team, but a few didn't stick around that long. Carmelo Anthony was one of the NBA's best pure scorers during a 19-year career that spanned the 2000s, 2010s and early 2020s. He ended up with a career average of 22.5 points a game and led the NBA in scoring average during the 2012-13 season. He spent his final year with the Lakers during the 2021-22 season. Although he was clearly over the hill and unable to shoot well on a consistent basis, he was a fan favorite, and there would usually be a buzz in the air at Arena when he would check into a game. He has reportedly been elected into this year's Hall of Fame class. Via ESPN: "Ten-time NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony has been notified that he has been elected into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2025, sources tell ESPN's Shams Charania." During his prime, Anthony spent seven and a half seasons with the Denver Nuggets and another seven and a half seasons as a member of the New York Knicks. For his career, he scored 28,289 points, which currently ranks 12th in NBA history.

Patriots fans react furiously to Adam Vinatieri Hall of Fame snubbing

Former New England Patriots kicker Adam Vinatieri was snubbed from making the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025. It sparked anger on social media as fans voiced their initial reactions to the snubbing. Vinatieri made 599 field goals in his career and 874 extra points. He enjoyed a career that saw him win four Super Bowls, including knocking game-winning kicks through the uprights against the St. Louis Rams at Super Bowl XXXVI and against the Carolina Panthers at Super Bowl XXXVIII. The legendary kicker was the scoring leader in 2004 and even made the NFL's 100 Anniversary All-Time Team. Yet despite all of his accomplishments, it still wasn't enough for him to make the Hall of Fame. One of the most consistent and dependable kickers in NFL history failed to win over the voters. Here's what fans were saying on social media after seeing Vinatieri left out of the Hall of Fame:

Eli Manning says he's happy for the players who made the Hall of Fame

Eli Manning says he's feeling fine a day after learning that he was not selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025. Manning, the two-time Super Bowl MVP who made the list of finalists this year but was voted down by the Hall of Fame Selection Committee, said on PFT Live that he's happy for Antonio Gates, Eric Allen, Jared Allen and Sterling Sharpe, the four players who were chosen this year. 'I was happy for the guys that got in. I competed against Jared Allen, I sent him a text, I feel like I kind of got him in because he sacked me so many times, I helped his resume,' Manning said. 'Antonio Gates, when I was coming out, thinking about going to the Chargers, doing workouts with them, they were telling me 'We've got this guy on the practice squad who didn't play college football but he's going to be a superstar, Hall of Famer,' and I was like, Yeah, right. So happy for him.' Manning is likely to get into the Hall of Fame eventually, but he says he's feeling OK with not making it on the first ballot.
