Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Vernon Kay was left taken aback during a recent search for holiday spots with his wife, Tess Daly. On his BBC Radio 2 show this week, Vernon shared that he and Strictly's Tess had a "wonderful" evening browsing potential holiday destinations on a tablet over drinks. While Vernon sipped on Baileys and Tess enjoyed white wine, they envisioned themselves in various settings, from sandy beaches to hotel balconies. Despite considering some "far-flung" places, Vernon also praised the UK's own stunning locales, particularly mentioning the "divine" beaches found in Scotland. (Image: Getty Images) Vernon enthused: "Oh, we went through a lot of holiday destinations. Fabulous. Some far-flung, some here in the UK. some beautiful resorts in the UK." He continued, highlighting the Scottish coastal route, saying: "I mean, we get a lot of listeners who do the Scottish coastal road, the 500. What's it called, Phil? That's it, the North Coast 500, and people say, 'Oh, look at the beaches here'. "You're like, 'No, Photoshop'. No, last night, oh my goodness me! Some divine beaches up there in Scotland. So that's what we did. How times change." The North Coast 500, often referred to as Scotland's ultimate road trip, offers travellers over 500 miles of breathtaking coastal views, encompassing mountains, beaches, and quaint villages. The official site proclaims the NC500 as an iconic coastal route embracing six regions: Black Isle, Caithness, Easter Ross, Inverness-shire, Sutherland, and Wester Ross, touting it as "one of the world's most iconic coastal touring routes". (Image:) Meanwhile, Vernon, the former host of Family Fortunes, recently spoke about a tense time at home. The reason? Their daughter, Amber, is deep in the throes of prepping for her GCSEs. With two daughters, including Phoebe, his eldest, Vernon opened up on air, stating: "Got GCSEs on the they're here. We've started ours, we're up and running." He then shared details about his own experience with the exams, explaining that he knows they're "stressful" but doesn't remember his from "so long ago" in 1990. In a candid confession, he mused over his past exams: "I remember sitting there thinking, 'Gosh, I wish I'd revised'. I'm not remembering anymore, it's making me depressed." However, the star added that he was "rubbish" at exams and shared his belief that it's "not the way education should be", joking that he would have landed an A+ in hide and seek. He went on to say that the experience is "torturous" for some, and urged fellow parents to support their children through their studies. Finally, Vernon gave some advice to fellow parents, saying: "There's nothing else they can do. There's no point cramming. You can cram all you want in your revision, which we all did, let's be honest, but you've just got to hold their hand haven't you?"

Vernon Kay says 'I'll give you a clip round the ear' as he issues warning to BBC co-star
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Vernon Kay warned Radio 2 co-star Jeremy Vine he would give him a 'clip round the earhole' after an on-air exchange between the two. During Monday's radio show, Jeremy told Vernon that he was welcoming a professional cuddler Sammi Wood into the BBC studios. Jeremy, 60, explained they were going to attempt to recreate a cuddle on air. It prompted Vernon to say: 'I love cuddling the girls at the end of the day.' A quick-witted Jeremy joked: 'Not in the office?' Vernon shot back: 'Behave yourself. I'll give you a clip round the earhole. 'The girls come home from school and it's a nice warm embrace. It's lovely.' Sympathising with his colleague, Jeremy added: 'I'm the same, I've got two girls as well, I agree with you. And I think maybe fathers 50 years ago didn't do the same.' Vernon shares 20-year-old Phoebe and 14-year-old Amber with wife Tess Daly. The radio presenter met Strictly Come Dancing host Tess when they were working on rival television channels. Vernon was working on Channel 4's T4 at the time while Tess, 56, was presenting on ITV's SMTV Live. Their relationship however blossomed and the pair soon began dating. They tied the knot at St Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Horwich, Vernon's home town. The family now lives in a sprawling six-bedroom mansion in Buckinghamshire, complete with its own home gym. (Image: tessdaly / Instagram) Vernon, who joined Radio 2 in 2021, regularly shares an insight into their family life on his mid-morning show. The former Family Fortunes host recently revealed he has been 'banned' from doing one thing during their family holidays. It came as the host shared his unique vision for future city centres, imagining a scenario where a park-and-ride system is followed by zipping into the urban area on golf buggies. Vernon argues this approach could greatly diminish "congestion and pollution" and even mused over the idea of extended buggies to cater for bigger groups. It was then Vernon explained that Tess has actually banned him from driving a golf buggy when on holiday. He told listeners: "I don't know. Smaller, more compact. You can get four. If you get one of them big ones, the estate version of a golf buggy, you can get at least eight people on one of them.' He added: 'You know the holiday one? When you go on holiday, they always have an extendable version. It's like two golf buggies together. I'm banned from driving one of those when we go on holiday. No, not officially, but by the family. I'm not allowed to drive." He concluded that driving one makes him feel like seven-time Formula One winner Sir Lewis Hamilton. He joked that it encourages you to hug "close to the kerbs", rounding off his confession with some playful racing car imitations.

Strictly's Tess Daly 'bans' Vernon Kay from doing one thing on holiday with daughters
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Vernon Kay has admitted that he's "not allowed" to do one particular thing when he takes a trip with his family. In a recent broadcast of his BBC Radio 2 show, the former Family Fortunes star shared his vision for the city centres of the future, where people opt for a park-and-ride scheme and then take golf buggies into the city. Vernon, who believes the scheme will reduce "congestion and pollution", set out the potential benefits of such a scenario, even suggesting there could be options for larger groups. However, as he hatched his plan, he also made a humorous revelation about his family. As he spoke, Vernon divulged he's "not allowed" to do something when he holidays with his wife, Strictly's Tess Daly, and two daughters, Phoebe and Amber. (Image: Dave Benett/ Getty Images for Gi) Vernon said: "I don't know. Smaller, more compact. You can get four. If you get one of them big ones, the estate version of a golf buggy, you can get at least eight people on one of them. "You know the holiday one? When you go on holiday, they always have an extendable version. It's like two golf buggies together. I'm banned from driving one of those when we go on holiday. No, not officially, but by the family. I'm not allowed to drive." He added that once you're in a golf buggy, it's natural to think you're Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton. Vernon, who capped it off by making racing car noises, said you stay "close to the kerbs". In related news, Vernon has revealed that "it's not easy" organising a show like Strictly Come Dancing, sharing a glimpse into what goes on behind the scenes and praising the team for their work. Meanwhile, Tess has presented Strictly since its launch in 2004 and currently fronts the show alongside Claudia Winkleman, also known for her work on the popular BBC show The Traitors. (Image:) It follows a recent BAFTA win for the BBC dance competition in which Chris McCausland's dance to You'll Never Walk Alone with Dianne Buswell scooped the Memorable Moment prize. Speaking on a previous Radio 2 broadcast, Vernon said: "It's a massive team and everyone puts in a massive shift, it's not easy putting a show together like that, it's absolutely huge. "I think, apart from one costume malfunction, I think that's the only thing in 20 odd years that has gone wrong. They work so hard to perfect that show." Vernon has also shared his views on his colleague Rylan Clark's win in the Factual Entertainment category, which he picked up with co-star Rob Rinder for their show, Rob and Rylan's Grand Tour. Opening up about Rylan, he humorously claimed: "He's going to be leathered for weeks now, I tell you."

Amanda Holden speaks out on wild Les Dennis split rumour as she sets record straight
Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden has decided to settle a very wild rumour about her time with first husband Les Dennis following their split in 2002 Amanda Holden has settled a very baffling rumour following her split from husband Les Dennis over 20 years ago. The Britain's Got Talent judge tied the knot with Les, who is 18 years her senior, back in 1995. They had a whirlwind romance, with Amanda aged just 24 at the time. However, their romance wasn't meant to be as it all came crashing down at the end of 2002. It came two years after reports Amanda had been having an affair with her co-star Neil Morrissey. Amid her fallout with Family Fortunes host Les, a rumour started that he had "found comfort" with legendary singer Diana Ross. Now over two decades later, Amanda has settled the rumour once and for all. 'I hate to bring it up, but when I was going through a divorce, my friend Jane Wall, who is a mixed-race actress, was living in my house," she said on the Tea at Four podcast. 'We were helping her, she was living there basically so she could save up for a mortgage, and it [reports] said, my then-husband was being 'comforted by Diana Ross'. So that was hilarious.' Jane, who was mistaken for Diana, is famed for playing Detective Inspector Di Worrell ITV soap The Bill. At the time of the rumour, Jane was still working on The Bill and never commented on the confusion between her and Diana, who has no known connection to Les. However former Coronation Street Les star did speak out about the incident back in 2004 as he said the claim was 'particularly ridiculous'. Amanda went on to find love with her husband Chris Hughes, who she has been married to since 2008. They welcomed two daughters together - Lexi and Hollie. The TV star is the face of new Netflix show, Cheat: Unfinished Business, which sees her help eight ex-couples who have separated due to cheating. Each pair has to reunite at a luxury retreat, where they will confront the cracks in their partnership, counselled by Married At First Sight UK's relationship expert Paul C. Brunson. Despite her own infidelity, Amanda admitted she found it hard to not be judgmental about the couples on the new show. In a candid confession, she said on the One Show: "Oh my God it was very hard for me to sit on the fence. "I would be the auntie and pop in and out. Try to be not judging, we all make mistakes, there are people who have made bad choices," she added. Amanda even admitted she has felt the benefits of the show as it has made her own relationship even stronger. She said: 'I was in awe of Paul's advice because it's so brilliant and succinct. You can listen to it all day.' Joking, she added: 'So I was really nice to Chris when he came out to filming." Amanda continued: "It (cheating) is a sensitive topic and I think it's a topic everyone can understand. It's about good people who have made bad choices. "Some of those people haven't had the answer for 10 years. So, it was amazing to be part of that process and to witness the truth coming out.'

AMANDA Holden has opened up on a 'hilarious' rumour that surfaced following her split from ex-husband, Les Dennis. In the fallout of their relationship, false rumours surfaced that Les had 'found comfort' with legendary soul singer, Diana Ross. Speaking of the bizarre incident, Amanda told the Tea at Four podcast: 'I hate to bring it up, but when I was going through a divorce, my friend Jane Wall, who is a mixed-race actress, was living in my house. 'We were helping her, she was living there basically so she could save up for a mortgage, and it [reports] said, my then-husband was being 'comforted by Diana Ross'. So that was hilarious.' Jane Wall is most famed for playing Detective Inspector Di Worrell on smash-hit ITV cop soap The Bill, but has since been seen on shows including Grey's Anatomy, Ghost Whisperer, and The OA. At the time of the accusation, she was still working on The Bill, and she's never commented about being confused for the iconic Supremes singer, who has always lived in the US and has no known connection to the Coronation Street star. However, Les has previously spoken out about the incident, saying in a 2004 interview with the Independent the claim was 'particularly ridiculous'. Since her split from Les, Amanda found love with husband Chris Hughes, and the couple have been married since 2008. Together the pair have two daughters – Lexi, born in 2006, and Hollie, born in 2012. Raging Britain's Got Talent fans slam new rule as they insist Amanda Holden made HUGE mistake But she opened up about her past as she promoted her new Netflix show, Cheat: Unfinished Business, which sees former flames try and work past infidelity in their relationship during a Spanish retreat. The Britain's Got Talent judge hosts the show, with Celebs Go Dating's Paul Carrick Brunson on hand to give the couples' relationship advice. Speaking on the concept of the series, Amanda said: 'If the trust's been broken, you have to repair the trust, and that can be tough." Just a week after the show's release, the series has already been lined-up for a second season. A TV insider said: 'Netflix knows she is in huge demand and wants to make sure that if a second series gets commissioned, she is available to take the reins once more. 'There was always the hope Cheat had the potential for a sequel, but since it dropped it's got a great response so another season is a no-brainer. 'But in the current climate where competition is fierce, particularly among dating shows, these decisions can go either way. Producers of the show are confident, however.'
