WARREN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Thomas J. Eckenrode, Sr., 72, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
Born on December 3, 1952, in Warren, Ohio, he was the beloved son of the late, Richard and Roselyn (Wright) Eckenrode.

Tom dedicated over four decades of service as a Maintenance Supervisor with the Trumbull Metropolitan Housing Authority, where his work ethic and commitment left a lasting impression on many.
On May 2, 1998, Tom married the love of his life, the late, Mary Jo (McGinnis) Eckenrode. Together, they built a life filled with love, adventure and cherished family memories.
Tom's life was defined by his passion for NASCAR, drag racing and his unmatched talent for working on cars. He was always up for a road trip, an RV camping weekend or simply enjoying nature. Known for his lively spirit and adventurous personality, Tom had a way of keeping everyone on their toes, you never quite knew what he was going to do next and that's what made him so memorable. His deep love for his Boxer dogs, especially Durango, was evident to all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Sarah Winston; his sister, Barbara Hanuscin; his grandson, Jonathan Winston and many extended family members and friends who will miss his energy, humor and unwavering love.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Jo; his sons, Thomas J. Eckenrode, II and Matthew Winston.
Family and friends may call Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Avenue, to celebrate Tom's life and legacy.
