33rd annual Help for the Homeless hygiene runs now through March
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WWEUX) – A Wisconsin radio network is partnering with area homeless and crisis agencies for the 33rd annual Help for the Homeless hygiene drive. You can donate items like toothpaste, diapers, laundry soap, and more to help meet a growing need within the community. Hygiene and cleaning products are expensive and many crisis agencies do not have the budget to provide them. For families using programs like Wisconsin Foodshare Benefits, it can only be used to buy food. This year the community table is partnering with the Family Radio Network to help those in need. Community Table Executive Director, TJ Atkins, explains, 'It really gives them some dignity and integrity that they can have those items. You think about how you start your day… you put your deodorant on… you brush your teeth… these are things that help them start their day off and so to the provider that is just really helpful.' The Hygiene Drive runs through March 16th. You can drop off donations at Festival Foods, Walgreens, and other participating locations. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. WILSON, Wis. (WFRV) – Officials in Sheboygan say groundbreaking plans have started to begin for a dementia village that they say will be the 'first-of-its-kind' in the United States. According to a release from a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Dementia Innovations, the dementia village, named 'Livasu', is designed to provide an environment where those who have dementia can 'live as usual' with thoughtful and positive risk acceptance. The capital campaign reportedly needs additional support to reach the overarching project goal of $13.5 million. Livasu will be located on 79 acres owned by the nonprofit in the town of Wilson in Sheboygan County. The village is expected to include 124 individually owned homes, a village center open to the public, a restaurant, a theater, a grocery store, and more. Family Radio Network launches Help for the Homeless Hygiene Drive to aid Wisconsin crisis agencies Couples will be able to remain living together and all care and support will be provided by on-site staff. Officials say the long-range goal of the village is to show what providing an alternate model of better living with dementia could look like not just in Wisconsin, but also across the country.
