Drivers line up for free gas thanks to Vegas Golden Knights
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Vegas Golden Knights teamed up with Smith's on Wednesday morning to give away $20,000 worth of free gas, courtesy of the VGK part of Fan Appreciation Week, cars lined up early at the Smith's on East Lake Mead Parkway and Warm Springs Road to receive $50 Smith's gift cards. This is the sixth time the VGK Foundation has partnered with Smith's in the last three years to give away gas and show love to the Las Vegas community.
Nate Ewell, vice president of Business Communications for the Vegas Golden Knights, said the event is about giving back to the community that has shown unwavering support for the team.
'Las Vegas gives so much to us,' he said. 'It's important that we give back when we can.'Members of the VGK Cast, including the Vegas Vivas and Knights Guard, were also on hand to greet fans and hand out gift cards.
One woman said she arrived at the gas station at 10 p.m. Tuesday in order to be the first in line. Another driver said the savings on her gas bill will allow her to treat her grandson to a weekend dinner.
